But let’s be honest, most people don’t have the time, budget, or storage space to transform an entire room in their home each season.
The good news is that just one thoughtfully styled surface can make your home feel like summer.
To give you some ideas, I’m sharing four spaces where I added seasonal decor!
I hope you’ll try at least one of these ideas, because we still have a lot of summer left to enjoy (even though stores are already showcasing fall & Christmas items).
Summer Decor Ideas for a Welcoming Foyer Table

Your foyer is one of the first spaces guests see when they enter your home, making it the perfect place to add a touch of summer.
You don’t need many decorations to make an impact—just a few carefully chosen pieces can create a fresh, welcoming first impression.
For our foyer table, I kept the styling simple by placing a large dark blue thrifted vase in the center of the console table.

To add height and a subtle coastal touch, I filled it with three painted palm fronds in varying sizes.
A little Spanish moss tucked around the base of the stems hides the plastic grocery bags holding them in place—a simple trick that gives the arrangement a much more finished, natural look.

On each side of the vase, I placed two DIY seashell candles on low glass candle holders.
Using candles of different heights creates a more balanced, collected look while their blue-and-white seashell pattern complements the vase beautifully.

Across the front of the arrangement, a distressed white wooden link set adds another layer of texture.

On the lower shelf of the console table, a DIY white picnic basket provides extra storage while bringing even more seasonal charm to the space.
I love how a few items in coordinating colors can easily create a welcoming summer entry.
Style a Simple Summer Coffee Table

Our coffee table sits across from the fireplace, so I carried the similar coastal accents and natural textures from our summer mantel and built-in shelves into this vignette.
A decorative tray is one of my favorite ways to style a coffee table because it keeps everything grouped together while making the display easy to move whenever you need extra space.

For summer, I chose my DIY tray made from a picture frame, which features blue grain sack stripes down the center for a subtle nautical touch.

To create a focal point, I placed this adorable wicker sailboat in the center of the tray.
I feel like it brings in plenty of coastal character without overpowering the rest of the vignette.

On one side of the sailboat, I displayed three DIY seashell bottles made from recycled spice jars.

To balance the arrangement, I placed a DIY coastal lantern on the opposite side of the tray.
Instead of using it as a lantern, I filled it with seashells to add another layer of natural texture and reinforce the coastal feel.
Add Summer Charm to a Living Room Console Table

A console table is the perfect place to layer a few seasonal pieces without making your living room feel overcrowded.
By combining natural textures with a simple color palette, you can create a display that feels fresh and inviting all summer long.

I started by leaning an old mirror we bleached against the wall to add height and reflect light throughout the room.

Then, I hung my DIY seashell wreath on the mirror to add just the right amount of coastal charm.
Beneath the wreath, I stacked two scalloped woven baskets to add a little extra height and texture to the display.
On each side, flower-shaped candle holders help frame the arrangement without competing with the wreath.

To complete the tabletop, I placed matching lamps with woven rattan shades on each end of the console.
Their natural texture ties everything together while adding warmth and balance to the space.
The lower shelf is both decorative and practical.

Two woven rattan baskets hold extra throw pillows, while two additional baskets keep cozy throw blankets within easy reach.
I love how the layered baskets add plenty of texture while providing stylish storage that works year-round.
Create a Summer Buffet Display

A buffet is a wonderful place to create a larger seasonal display because it offers plenty of room to layer decorative pieces.
In our eat-in kitchen, I kept the color palette simple, pairing shades of blue and white with natural coastal elements for a fresh summer look.

To set the scene, we hung a trio of blue heron prints above the buffet.
Their soft blue tones draw your eye upward while adding height and bringing the whole display together.

In the center of the buffet, I placed a distressed white tray as the foundation for the vignette.
A large starfish propped against the back of the tray creates a focal point, while stacks of white seashell-shaped plates on either side add balance.

Smaller starfish and seashells tucked around the tray fill in the arrangement without making it feel cluttered.
On each end of the buffet, I created matching displays to frame the centerpiece.

Both include a blue glass vase, a tall wooden candlestick with a white pillar candle, and a white coral statue.

Although the vases and coral pieces aren’t identical, their similar colors and shapes create a collected look while adding just enough variation to keep the display interesting.
This buffet vignette is proof that symmetry doesn’t have to be perfectly matched to feel balanced.
Repeating similar colors, textures, and heights creates a polished summer display that’s both relaxed and welcoming.
