It flew by in a blur of celebration, sunshine, and a little unexpected downtime.

The weather has been glorious (even though we need rain), and we had a fabulous month until this last week.
You see, I had eye surgery and thought it would be a breeze!
I’ve been having blurry vision for months now due to something called anterior basement membrane dystrophy.
The eye doctor performed a procedure called superficial keratectomy, and I can already tell my vision is better! It should return to normal in 4 to 6 weeks, and we’ll see if my glasses need adjusting then.
Unfortunately, the surgery was more bothersome than I thought it was going to be, and I’ve been out of commission for a few days, so this newsletter’s a little shorter than usual—thanks for hanging in there with me!
Here are all the fun highlights of the month!
WHAT WE DID BEHIND THE SCENES IN April
Here’s what we’ve been up to behind the scenes!
60th Birthday Cruise
One of the highlights of the month was having my two best friends and their husbands visit during spring break.

We’ve been close for decades, so it was such a treat to have everyone together again.

The girls headed off on a cruise to celebrate our 60th birthdays (still can’t believe we’re saying that out loud!), while the guys stayed behind—since motion sickness and cruise ships don’t mix, one of the guys could not go!

We had a blast soaking up the sun, enjoying each other’s company, and making memories we’ll be talking about for years.
Flower and Garden Festival

We made several trips to the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot this month—what can I say, we just can’t stay away!

I always look forward to seeing the gorgeous topiaries—Disney really goes all out!

Our favorite part is trying different foods each time we go. There’s something new to taste every visit!
We also caught a few of the concerts, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
On one trip, we saw Tommy DeCarlo, former lead singer of Boston.

This time, we had front row seats for THE ORCHESTRA Starring ELO and ELO Part II Former Members.
So much fun singing along to all their songs!
This festival really is one of our favorite spring traditions.
Another new baby at Animal Kingdom
We also spent a peaceful day at Animal Kingdom, simply soaking in the sights and enjoying all the animals.

The highlight of the day was meeting the newest addition to the park—a sweet baby giraffe named Tucker!

He was absolutely adorable and such a fun surprise to see.
Celebrated Easter
Easter weekend was so enjoyable this year.
Rich got off work early on Friday, and we rode the monorail to the Grand Floridian Resort to see the elaborate chocolate eggs that the chefs had made.

I think there were 20 Easter eggs, each inspired by a different Disney film or character.

The eggs were bigger than I thought they would be, and my favorite was Beauty and the Beast!
We decided to spend time preparing our hearts and minds for Easter by watching The Chosen: Last Supper- Season 5 movies.
There was one place still showing the first two movies near us, and it was a fancy luxury theater that delivers dinner and snacks right to your seat.

So we splurged and I have to say the extra dollars were worth having someone wait on us through the entire movie!
I think I’ve had my movie popcorn fix after going to the movies three nights in a row!
On Sunday, we went to church and then came home to a delicious meal filled with all our traditional favorites.
It was a fun and meaningful weekend!
WHAT WE DID ON THE BLOG IN April

April was all about getting ready for Easter, and I shared three fun bunny-themed DIY projects that were quick, easy, and added the perfect touch of spring cheer to our home.
We also did a little organizing with baskets (because who doesn’t love a pretty and practical solution?), and I had so much fun decorating the dining room and setting the table for Easter dinner.
Mother’s Day is approaching quickly, so we shared an easy DIY gift idea!

Such a beautiful way to spend your birthday month, Donna. I love that you guys all got together to celebrate. Truly, there is nothing like good friends! I can’t get over all the eggs at the GF – they are works of art. It’s always fun to see the changing landscape and Disney and Epcot too. I cannot imagine how much planning it takes to pull all that off! Sending you hugs for a full recovery post surgery. It’s the perfect time to slow down and give your body extra time to heal. It’s so important, CoCo
Thank you my friend! I’m not one to sit around, but this surgery made me take it easy and rest my eyes and body too! You are right, it’s important to take the time and let our bodies heal! Thanks for stopping by!
Did not realize you had gone through surgery. I too am recouping from one. Do take the time to heal. Hard to do but necessary. Loved your trip with friends. We are planning one as well. To Ireland to visit friends there. Take care friend. Carole
How fabulous that you are going to Ireland! Such a fun trip to look forward to! Hope your surgery went well and your recovery is quick and complete! Thanks so much and have a great day!
I hope your eye gets better quickly. You had a great April!
Thank you Cindy! Yes, it was such a fun month (well until the surgery)! Now that the special “contact” is out, my eye feels so much better! I hope you have a great day!
Hope your surgery recovery goes well Donna. Vision is so important, my mother recently had cataract surgery, and she is still healing since February. Her vision has not come back, nor can she see color. So scary. I am glad you were able to celebrate your birthday month with your besties. Sounds like trip was a lot of fun. Wow, those eggs! I wish I had those culinary skills, but I am lucky to throw dinner together most nights, ha. The eggs were beautiful, and I cannot imagine the skill to pull something like that off. Enjoy your May, you can have all the rain we have up this way.
Hi Cara, I’m so sorry to hear that about your mom (adding her to my prayer list). I was told I have very small cataracts and will need to have that surgery some day but no time soon! Yes, those eggs were an amazing sight! The chefs there are the best! We finally got some rain this weekend, but not nearly enough! Hope you have a great month of May as well!
