When you walk into the kitchen, the countertops are covered with mail, snack bags, and random odds and ends.

Easy Basket Organization Ideas for Every Room
Baskets are one of the simplest ways to bring order to your home, and the best part?
They work in every space!
Whether you’re tackling a messy kitchen, a cluttered living room, or an overflowing entryway, these basket organization ideas will help you create a home that feels neat, functional, and effortlessly stylish.
Kitchen & Pantry
The kitchen is one of the busiest areas in the home, and without proper organization, it can quickly become overwhelming.
Baskets help contain the chaos while keeping everyday essentials within reach.
Sort pantry items

Use labeled baskets to group snacks, canned goods, baking supplies, and spices for easy access.
Control countertop clutter

A small decorative basket is a stylish yet functional way to store cooking oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper next to the stove.
Tidy up the fridge and freezer
Try plastic baskets to help separate fruits, veggies, and condiments for a more organized refrigerator.

We use black plastic baskets from Dollar Tree to help separate frozen fruits and cheese in our freezer.
Corral items inside a cabinet

Store similar items, such as cake decorating supplies or water bottles, in a basket inside a cabinet to keep them neatly contained and easily accessible.
We have the extra parts of our food processor in a basket on the top shelf.
Under-the-sink storage
Use baskets to store dish soap and cleaning supplies, preventing clutter.
Living Room
The living room is where we relax and gather, but it can also be a magnet for clutter.
Baskets provide a simple way to keep things tidy while adding a cozy, decorative touch.
DVD and CD Storage

We have room for four storage baskets inside our TV console table.

We currently organize and store our DVDs and CDs in the baskets.
Store cozy blankets and pillows

Store throw blankets and pillows in baskets.

I even created a faux basket by turning my Christmas tree collar upside down and storing blankets and pillows in it!
Organize remotes and electronics

A small basket on a table in the living room holds remote controls.
Tame the toy clutter

Designate a basket for kids’ toys or pet supplies to make cleanup quick and easy.
Keep books and magazines neat
Instead of piling them on tables, place them in a stylish bin for a cleaner look.
Bathroom
Bathrooms can easily become cluttered with toiletries, towels, and cleaning products. Baskets help maximize storage while keeping essentials neat.
Organize toiletries
Use small baskets to group skincare products, hair tools, and makeup for an easy morning routine.

We store travel-size toiletries in a basket in our guest bathroom in case they forgot theirs.
Display towels on the counter

Roll up fresh towels and place them in a decorative basket for a spa-like feel.
Declutter under the sink
Stackable baskets keep extra toilet paper, cleaning supplies, and personal care items tidy.
Hang a basket

Hang a basket on a towel ladder or the wall to store washcloths. soaps, or loofahs.
Store Toilet Paper

Use a basket on the back of the toilet to store rolls of paper within arm’s reach.
Bedroom & Closet
Your bedroom should feel like a peaceful retreat, not a cluttered space.
With the right basket organization ideas, you can create a serene and functional environment.
Contain nightstand clutter

A basket on your nightstand can hold small books, hand lotion, and charging cords.
Sort seasonal accessories
Store scarves, hats, and gloves in labeled bins for easy swapping between seasons.
Keep the closet in check

Use baskets on shelves to neatly store folded clothes, handbags, and shoes.
Under-bed storage
Slide flat baskets under the bed to store extra linens, out-of-season clothing, or sentimental keepsakes.
Entryway & Mudroom
The entryway is the first space guests see and the last place you stop before heading out the door.
A few baskets can keep this area functional and clutter-free.
Assign a basket for each family member

Keep shoes, backpacks, and daily essentials organized in designated bins.
Create a grab-and-go station

Place a small basket on a console table to hold keys, sunglasses, wallets, and other small items.
Sort mail and paperwork

A vertical wall-mounted basket helps prevent paper clutter from piling up on counters.
Home Office & Craft Room
A well-organized workspace boosts productivity and creativity.
Baskets help keep everything in its place without making your desk feel overcrowded.
Store office supplies

Use small baskets to group pens, sticky notes, and paper clips.
Tame tech clutter
Keep cords, chargers, and headphones in labeled baskets to avoid tangled messes.
Organize craft materials
Use baskets to separate yarn, paint, fabric, and scrapbooking supplies for an efficient setup.

SUCH amazing ideas, Donna!! Baskets are the most versatile item for just about ANYTHING, especially when found thrifted for just a few dollars. Super fun post!
So glad you enjoyed the post Rachel! Yes, thrift stores are fabulous for finding affordable baskets! Thanks so much!
So many fabulous basket ideas, Donna. I love how you break it down so we can see how to use them in multiple areas of our home and shared how they can be both pretty and practical. We use them all over the house and give them as gifts too. They’re truly game changers! Hugs, CoCo
I agree CoCo! Baskets are a game changer when it comes to home organization! Pretty and practical, you can’t ask for more than that! Have a lovely day!
As I was reading your post Donna, I was saying to myself yes, yes, yes! I need a house size basket! lol, ok, so maybe that was a bit out of touch. I have been using vintage suitcases, and baskets, but I need more. Or perhaps, I just need to get rid of some things. In any case, I love your laundry room, I wish I had a nice one, instead of an old house basement. It’s on the list, but gosh, the list has grown this last week into things I thought we would have more time to repair, and found no such luck. Maybe I will win the lottery and then I can build the garage of my dreams to house all of these decorations. Thank you for the distraction, and the nice thoughts of more home remodeling projects. I am still in love with that ladder in the bathroom too. Have a great week my friend.
Hi Cara! We’ve been in this house five years and have not done half of what I want to do! We always seem to run out of time or budget, lol! Oh well, slow and steady wins the race! But, by the time I make it my dream house, it will be time to downsize. Glad you enjoyed the post and let’s keep dreaming!!
