If you love decorating for Christmas but don’t want to buy a new wreath every year, you’re in the right place! Today I’m sharing five DIY Christmas wreath ideas to show you how simple it is to repurpose one wreath year after year and make it feel unique each time.
I use the same faux evergreen wreath on my front door each holiday season and simply change up the decorations to create a whole new look.

It’s an easy, budget-friendly way to keep your home feeling fresh without starting from scratch—or spending extra money.
5 DIY Christmas Wreath Ideas

Before you rush out to buy a new wreath, take a look at what you already have—you might be surprised by how many different styles you can create with just one base.
By swapping out ribbons, ornaments, picks, and seasonal accents, you can give the same evergreen wreath a completely fresh look each year.
Here are five easy and creative ways I’ve repurposed mine to inspire your own holiday decorating.
Create a Cozy Winter Look with Ice Skates and Ribbon

This wreath turned out to be such a fun surprise!
I actually found the ice skates this summer at our local thrift store, and since they were half price, I couldn’t leave them behind.
I knew they’d be perfect for a winter wreath, so I tucked them away until Christmas decorating rolled around.
Then I came across the prettiest 3.5-inch-wide burgundy velvet ribbon at Walmart and used it to make a big, fluffy bow.
It’s a really simple look, but I just love how cozy and classic it feels.
Add a Bold Pop of Color with Flower and Candy Picks

For this wreath, I wanted something bright and cheerful, so I started by adding peppermint swirl candy and ball ornament picks (purchased from Hobby Lobby many years ago) to the left side—one reaching upward and the other pointing down to create a little movement.
Then I layered in some white sparkle picks with red orbs the same way, which added a fun mix of texture and shine.
To finish it off, I tucked a large red faux flower right in the center of the left side.
It’s bold, playful, and such a happy pop of color on the front door.
Go Frosty with Snowflake and Ornament Clusters

My inspiration for this version was a clean, wintry look, so I centered a DIY wooden snowflake right in the middle (see DIY here).
From there, I added snowflake ornaments to carry the theme and tucked small clusters of ornaments around the wreath for extra dimension.
I love mixing matte, shiny, and glitter finishes because it gives the wreath a pretty, frosty sparkle—just enough to feel festive without being overdone.
Keep It Natural with Antique Bells and Pinecones

To switch things up, I gave a set of inexpensive Walmart bells an antique finish (see DIY here) and used them as the starting point.
Then I paired them with pinecones we collected from our yard back in Kentucky—one of my favorite touches, because they always remind me of home (see how to clean pinecones here).
The combination of aged metal and natural elements creates such a warm, rustic look that works beautifully all season long.
Make It Playful with a Sign and Whimsical Picks

This wreath was actually on our door the first Christmas after we moved to Florida, and we wanted to be sure Santa knew precisely where to find us!
So I added a “Santa Stop Here” sign to the right side of the wreath.
To balance it out, I placed white swirly picks on one side and mixed in the same red-and-white candy picks I used in the bold red wreath design.
I love showing how you can reuse the same pieces in a totally different way and get a completely new look.
The movement and bright colors make this wreath feel extra cheerful—just the kind of design that makes guests smile the moment they walk up.
Closing Thoughts
Repurposing the same evergreen wreath each year has become one of my favorite holiday traditions.
It’s incredible how a few simple swaps can completely transform the look without spending much money or storing multiple wreaths.
I hope these DIY Christmas wreath ideas inspire you to get creative with what you already have and try a new style on your own front door this season.
With a bit of imagination, one wreath can give you endless Christmas looks year after year!
