Spring always feels like an invitation to open the windows, let in the sunshine, and give our homes a fresh start — and adding spring living room decor is one of the easiest ways to welcome the new season.
After months of cozy winter layers, I like to lighten things up with simple changes that make the space feel bright, airy, and full of life again.

This year, I focused on small updates, so if you’re looking for simple ways to refresh your space, these easy ideas show how to decorate your living room for spring using items you may already have — or can find secondhand.
From styling bookshelves and mantels to creating cozy vignettes and swapping textiles, each update helps the room feel lighter, brighter, and ready for the season ahead.
Create a Spring Mantel Focal Point
The mantel is one of the first things you notice in a living room, so it’s a great place to start when you want to add spring decor.
I didn’t want anything fussy or overdone — just something fresh, light, and cheerful.

First, I draped a eucalyptus garland across the mantel and, to give it a seasonal touch, added two bunny figures.

Next, I added some of my DIY artwork and a couple of Wedgwood saucers I recently thrifted, which introduce the soft blue you’ll see repeated throughout the room.
Altogether, this simple combination of greenery, meaningful pieces, and a hint of color creates a mantel that feels fresh for spring.
Add Spring-Inspired Artwork

One of the quickest decor tips to make a living room feel like spring is simply changing the artwork.
I swapped in a seasonal image featuring soft dogwood branches arranged in a blue vase, paired with off-white eggs in a bowl, and scattered across the table.
If you have a Frame TV or digital frame, this is an incredibly easy update that takes just a few minutes but completely changes the mood of the space.
Even traditional framed prints can be swapped seasonally to create the same effect.
It’s a simple detail, but it makes the whole room feel thoughtfully refreshed for spring.
Incorporate Spring Touches to Bookshelves

Bookshelves are such a fun place to add seasonal touches because even small changes can make a big difference.
I didn’t remove everything or start from scratch — I simply layered in a few spring-inspired pieces among my everyday decor.
One of my favorite additions is a lamb’s ear wreath displayed in an unexpected way.

Instead of hanging it, I placed it on a cloche and placed a small bunny in the center.
It creates a soft, sweet focal point without taking up much space.
I loved the look so much that I repeated it with a second wreath on another shelf to create balance across the unit.

To bring in that fresh spring feeling, I tucked greenery picks into two tureens already on the shelves.
This is such an easy trick — you don’t need new containers, just swap what’s inside them.

I also added a couple of potted faux ferns for extra texture and a touch of natural shape.
What I like most about these changes is that nothing feels overly styled or seasonal.
The greenery, soft lamb’s ear, and subtle bunny accents blend right in with my everyday pieces, making the shelves feel lighter, brighter, and ready for spring.
Style a Bird Cage

One of my favorite little additions this year is a small bird cage I found at a yard sale — it’s one of those pieces I wasn’t looking for but immediately knew I could use somewhere during spring.

I styled it on an end table, and tucked a small topiary, a bird’s nest, and a petite bird statue inside.
I love how it adds charm without taking up much space, and because it’s new to me, it makes the room feel refreshed.
Sometimes those unexpected thrift or yard-sale finds are the pieces that make a space feel the most personal.
Create a Spring Coffee Table Vignette

The coffee table is right in the center of the room, so whatever you place here really sets the tone for the whole space.
For spring, I wanted something that felt fresh and cheerful but still calm and uncluttered.
I started with a round woven basket to anchor everything and bring in that natural texture you’ll see repeated throughout the room.
Inside the basket, I placed a white pitcher filled with faux white tulips for height and softness.

Next to it, a white ceramic bowl with a little bunny leaning over the edge holds moss and speckled eggs — such a simple detail, but it instantly says spring.
To finish the vignette, I added a mini white cake plate topped with a small ceramic bird, along with another bird statue elevated on a stick.

The varying heights keep the arrangement interesting, while the consistent color palette keeps it cohesive rather than busy.
Everything feels light, layered, and easy to live with — which is important for a surface that gets used every day.
Incorporate Natural Woven Textures
Another easy way to make a room feel lighter and more seasonal is by bringing in natural woven textures.
They add warmth and interest, which makes them perfect for a soft spring refresh.
On the console table, I swapped out a traditional vase for a tall woven basket filled with dogwood branches.
The basket feels a little more relaxed and organic, and the branches add height without looking heavy.
On either side, I placed glass demijohns to balance the arrangement and keep the overall look simple and airy.
I also leaned into texture with the storage underneath the table.

Four woven baskets hold spring pillows and lightweight throw blankets, keeping everything tidy while still contributing to the decor.
It’s a practical solution that looks intentional rather than purely functional.
Swap Out Textiles for an Instant Seasonal Update
If you want the biggest impact with the least effort, swapping out textiles is the way to go.
Changing pillow covers and throws instantly shifts a room’s mood from cozy winter to fresh spring.
For this season, I purchased new pillow covers I had been eyeing for a while.
They were a bit more expensive than I like to pay for seasonal decor, but I splurged because the color ties in beautifully with the rug and the blue accents used elsewhere in the room, like the Wedgwood pieces and DIY artwork.
Pillow covers take up very little storage space, can be changed out in minutes, and make the whole living room feel refreshed for the season — proof that sometimes the simplest updates make the largest impact.
Closing Thoughts
Adding spring living room decor doesn’t have to mean a full makeover or a big shopping trip.
As you can see, a few thoughtful changes — adding greenery, incorporating natural textures, swapping textiles, and styling pieces you already own in new ways — can completely transform how a space feels.
Whether you try one idea or several, the goal is simply to create a room that feels lighter, brighter, and welcoming for the season ahead.
Sometimes those small, intentional updates are all it takes to fall in love with your home all over again.
