Can you believe how fast May flew by, or was it just me?
It was one of those months that felt full to the brim—in the best kind of way!

Between special celebrations and traveling to Kentucky to spend time with family and friends, we had a lot going on behind the scenes here at An Organized Season.
We can’t wait to catch you up on everything, so let’s look back at what made May so memorable!
WHAT WE DID BEHIND THE SCENES IN May
One of us got braces for the first time
One of the biggest (and most unexpected) things to happen this month?
I had to get braces—for the first time ever—at the age of 60.
You see, I started Invisalign, not because I wanted to, but because I needed to. I don’t mind that my bottom teeth have become crooked as I’ve aged, but I needed to address the issue.
Unfortunately, my bottom teeth shifted and started to loosen the top ones, where I have a bridge (thanks to missing two teeth—a hereditary trait passed down from my grandmother).
This is not exactly how I imagined kicking off the summer, but this bridge needs to last the rest of my life!
So braces it is!
It’s been an adjustment, but I’m staying positive—and who knows, maybe I’ll even shed a few pounds since snacking between meals feels like more trouble than it’s worth lol!
Celebrated Mother’s Day

For Mother’s Day, Rich and our son, Griffin, took me to Disney’s Polynesian Resort for dinner at ‘Ohana.
It was such a sweet treat!
Not only was the atmosphere fun and festive, but the staff went above and beyond to accommodate my gluten and dairy sensitivities, along with our son’s allergies to dairy and tree nuts.
We had a great meal, lots of laughs, and enjoyed being together.

I’ll admit, Mother’s Day is always a little bittersweet for me since I lost my sweet mom to cancer eight years ago.
I miss her every single day.
If you’re also missing your mom, please know my heart is with you—I truly understand how hard that can be.
However, hearing from our two sons who live out of state helped make the day feel extra special.
Spring Yard Sale Finds
We had such a fun morning shopping at Renninger’s for their big spring yard sale!
The place was packed with rows of tents filled with all kinds of treasures just waiting to be discovered.
And let me tell you, we had some serious luck this time!

I came home with a pretty white vintage birdcage, a charming little footstool (which I’ll be making over), a metal cloche, a rustic wooden pedestal, four scalloped Pottery Barn plates (only $1.25 each), and five lovely milk glass pieces.

I also scored a festive sled that I can’t wait to decorate with at Christmas.
It was definitely one of those days when the yard sale magic was in full swing!
Traveled to KY to see family

We made a trip back to our home state of Kentucky this month, and it was great to be back.
Most of our family still lives there, so it’s always special when we get the chance to visit.
We started the trip at my dad’s house, where we spent time with him and our oldest son, who lives with him.
While we were there, we celebrated Rich’s birthday…

and caught up with some longtime friends.

It was so fun catching up on everyone’s lives!
Enjoyed a Family Wedding
Then, we headed to Western Kentucky to visit with Rich’s parents and celebrate a very special occasion—our nephew’s wedding!

It was a joy to be part of the festivities and spend time with Rich’s sister and her husband (the parents of the groom)!

We had fun pitching in with the rehearsal dinner, and on the wedding day, I did hair for the mother of the groom, our niece, and her three kids (they still trusted me, even though it has been five years since I retired from hairdressing!).
The weather didn’t exactly cooperate—it was cool and rained on and off—but the ceremony was lovely.

We’re thrilled for the sweet couple and excited to see what the future holds for them!

Donna! I’m SO THRILLED for all your finds from Rennigers!! The two small vases are two exact matches to ones I’ve found within the past 2 months, too! How fun!!
What a fun month!!
Thanks! It was such a fun day! I have been looking for milk glass vases for years with no luck. I was looking at the other pieces I bought and the lady at the booth said she might have more in a tub, I told her I was looking for vases and she pulled out the tub and there they were! I was so excited!
What a fun month full of happy celebrations and memory making occasions, Donna. I love all the things you found at Renningers and all the beautiful decor you creative for your home as well. I’m thankful for the organization posts you share too. They always keep me on track. Hope Rich has a happy Father’s Day this weekend and everything goes well with your invisalign journey. You’ll have to give me all your best tips. I’ll be headed there soon too! Hugs, CoCo
