Summer’s here, and it’s the perfect time to jump into a fresh start at home with our Summer Organization Challenge! Around here, we like to organize one zone of our home each season, and summer is all about our personal living spaces—bedrooms, closets, and bathrooms.
If your closet’s a mess, the kids’ rooms need a reset, or you just want to create a more relaxing vibe in your bedroom, you’re in the right place.

You can go at your own pace, choose the spaces that need the most love, and we’ll be here to guide and cheer you on the whole way!
Organize by the Season

If you’re new here and wondering how this whole thing works, let me explain!
We like to keep home organization simple and doable by focusing on just one zone of the house each season.
That way, you’re not trying to declutter your entire home at once (because let’s be honest, that never ends well!).
Here’s how we break it down:
- Summer – Personal Living Zone: This includes the spaces that are personal to each member in the home—bedrooms, closets, and bathrooms. It’s all about making your personal spaces feel peaceful and functional.
- Fall—Entertaining Zone: These are the areas your guests are most likely to see, such as the entryway, living room, dining room, guest bedroom, and family or playroom. Fall is a great time to get these spaces cozy and clutter-free before the holidays.
- Winter – Working Zone: When it’s cold outside, we turn our attention indoors to the kitchen, laundry room, and office. We break the kitchen down into smaller tasks, such as the pantry, and do the same with the office by separating paper clutter and craft supplies.
- Spring – Outdoor Zone: We head outdoors as the weather warms up! That includes organizing spaces such as the garage, porch, patio, attic, shed, cars (including the camper or boat if you have one), and yard.
Focusing on one area at a time makes it much easier to stay on track and avoid getting overwhelmed.
Join The Summer Home Organization Challenge

Now that you know how our seasonal system works, let’s explore this summer’s focus—the Personal Living Zone!
That means it’s time to declutter and refresh your bedrooms, closets, and bathrooms.
But don’t worry, this challenge is entirely self-paced, so you can jump in whenever and wherever it makes sense for you.
It’s totally up to you whether you tackle one closet or every room on the list.
How to Participate in the Summer Organization Challenge

1) Grab a binder.
This will be your go-to spot for tracking your progress and keeping everything organized.
2) Download your free printables.
Head to the Free Resources link at the top of the page. When prompted, enter the password you received after signing up for our email list. If you’re not on the list yet, sign up here for instant access!
3) Print your challenge sheets.
Inside the binder section, you’ll find goal sheets, a calendar sheet, and seasonal room checklists to help you map out your plan and stay on track.
4) Start organizing—at your own pace!
Whether you have 10 minutes or an entire weekend, just take it one step at a time. The goal is progress, not perfection!
5) Find an accountability buddy.
Everything’s better with a partner! Ask a friend or family member to join you—checking in with each other can really help keep the momentum going.
6) Get inspired.
Browse the blog for tips, checklists, and real-life examples of how we’ve organized our home. Sometimes seeing it done makes it so much easier to start.
7) Stay motivated.
For more help, be sure to open our Seasonal Sentiments Rewind Newsletter on the last day of each month for continued inspiration and organization tips. We include weekly tasks and additional encouragement to help you stay focused throughout the year.

You don’t need to officially “sign up” for the challenge, but if you’d like to use our free printable guide and goal sheets, you need to sign up for our email list here to gain access to our free resource library.
Did We Meet Our Goals For The Last Challenge?

Before we jump into summer organizing, let’s take a moment to celebrate everything we accomplished during our Spring Home Organization Challenge—and wow, we checked off a lot!
Goals we met
- Spruced up our yard by pruning shrubs and trees, weeding flower beds, freshening mulch, planting flowers, and keeping up with lawn care!
- Decluttered the top of the workbench and shelves above it in the garage and even installed a third overhead storage unit—such a great use of space!
- Deep cleaned our cars and added seatbelt shoulder pads to make them more comfortable.
- Cleaned our porches and gave our swing and outdoor furniture a fun little makeover.
- Spring cleaned our home from top to bottom and shared our best tips along the way.
- Opened up about how to get started organizing when you’re overwhelmed by giving a behind-the-scenes look at our “secret room.”
The goal we did not meet
We didn’t get around to cleaning or decluttering the storage shelves in our garage.
They’re pretty dusty, and we know there’s a purge session waiting to happen… but it’ll have to wait until next year!
And that’s okay!
Every season is a fresh start, and we’re proud of the progress we’ve made.
Now, it’s time to bring on the summer organizing!
Final Thoughts
We hope you feel inspired and ready to take on the Summer Organization Challenge!
We have a lot of work to do, and our biggest hurdle will be reorganizing our primary closet.
It’s a mess, see for yourself!

Are you excited to get started?
Remember, it’s not about doing everything perfectly—it’s about making steady progress and creating a home that feels good to live in.
Whether you clear out one closet or transform your entire bedroom (like we did last year, see it here), every step forward counts.
Take it at your own pace, give yourself grace, and celebrate your wins.
We’ll be here cheering you on, sharing tips, and tackling our spaces alongside you.
Let’s make this summer one where we create calm, clutter-free spaces we actually enjoy spending time in.
You’ve got this!
Blessings, Donna and Rich
