We just swapped it out again!
This time, we chose a different model, but the installation process was identical.
So we figured it was the perfect time to give this post a little refresh.
If you’re looking for an easy and affordable bathroom update, installing a new shower head is a great place to start.
It only takes a few minutes, and no plumber is required!
Why install a new shower head?
Have you seen pictures of dreamy, spa-like showers with rain-style shower heads mounted on the ceiling, like you’re standing under a gentle waterfall?
Or maybe you’ve spotted those luxurious full-body shower systems with water spraying from all directions?
Yeah, we’ve drooled over them too.
So imagine our surprise when we first walked into our new bathroom—with its oversized walk-in shower—only to find a teeny-tiny shower head that felt entirely out of place.

It just didn’t do the space justice.
The original showerhead was undersized and not adequate for such a large shower.

We weren’t about to gut the shower (hello, budget!), so we went with the most practical solution:
Rich replaced the old shower head with a better one.
And it made a big difference!

This showerhead looked more proportional to the shower, had the feel of a rain shower, and had a handheld option!
It really improved the look and our shower experience.
Fast forward to today—we were browsing Amazon and found a shower head with a more rainfall-like vibe, which is what we originally wanted.
It was budget-friendly, had great reviews, and we figured it was worth a try.
So, we decided to upgrade again—and spoiler alert: the installation was just as simple the second time around.
Why install a new shower head?
What kind of shape is your current shower head in?
Even if it’s not old or leaking, replacing your shower head can be a smart and simple upgrade.
Today’s shower heads come with a range of modern features, including adjustable spray settings, sleek designs, and water-saving technology.

Low-flow models use less water per minute, which can help reduce your water bill without sacrificing performance.
And let’s be honest—swapping out an outdated fixture instantly refreshes your bathroom’s look.
Whether you prefer a gentle rain to start your day or a powerful stream to melt away tension, there’s a shower head that fits your style.

The handheld shower head offers a customized showering experience, allowing you to choose from 7 settings to suit your needs best.

One of our favorite features of the new model?

The handheld sprayer features a button that allows you to dispense water directly from the end, making it extremely easy to rinse down shower walls or clean hard-to-reach spots.
Total game-changer for cleaning!
So why wait?
A new shower head may seem like a minor change, but it can make a significant difference in your daily routine.
Steps to install a new shower head
Are you ready to discover how easy it is to install a new showerhead?
Gather tools

You will need to gather the following items and tools:
- A new showerhead (Hibbent Rainfall ShowerHead) or (Dream Spa Ultra)
- Adjustable crescent wrench
- Plumbers tape
- Pliers (optional)
prep
We have some preliminary work to do before we begin the project.

Carefully read all instructions.

Unpack your new showerhead and inspect the parts to ensure everything is included.
The great thing about this showerhead kit is it comes with extra tape, o-rings, and washers for use if you get a leak later in the future.
Remove the old shower head

Use your crescent wrench to loosen and then screw off the old showerhead.
Plumbers tape

Take off the old plumber’s tape from the threads on the outlet pipe.

Rewrap the outlet pipe grooves with the new plumber’s tape.
Install a new shower head
Attach the extension arm to the shower arm and securely fasten it by tightening the screw.

Use the wrench to tighten the nut on the bolt and verify that everything is securely attached.

Next, use a washer and then screw the new showerhead to the valve securely, but do not overtighten.
Install the handheld shower attachment
Locate the handheld spray head, hose, and two washers.

Attach one end of the hose to the showerhead valve, and don’t forget to put it in the washer.
Then, secure the other end of the hose to the handle, ensuring the washer is inside.
Attach the Shower Head Holder
The only issue we had with our previous shower head setup was the adhesive mount for the handheld holder—it didn’t stand the test of time.
After a couple of years, the adhesive failed, and the holder kept falling off the wall.
Not ideal!
To fix the problem, we purchased a universal shower head holder with a strong suction cup, and it’s worked beautifully ever since.
It sticks securely to the tile and hasn’t budged, even after months of daily use.
Since it’s still going strong, we decided to skip the holder that came with the new shower head kit and stick with what works.
If you’ve had trouble with adhesive holders in the past, a suction-mounted option might be the perfect solution.

Place the handheld shower in the holder.
Check for leaks

Now the fun part, turn on the shower to check for leaks.
If it leaks, tighten the connection.
Final Thoughts
Replacing your shower head is one of those small projects that delivers big results.
It’s quick, affordable, and makes your daily routine feel a little more luxurious.
Whether you’re looking to add a spa-like experience or just give your bathroom a mini refresh, this is an easy upgrade anyone can tackle.
We’ve done it twice now, and both times were totally worth it!
So if you’ve been thinking about it, go ahead and give it a try.
You’ll be so glad you did!
