SKIP THE TABLECLOTH
I adore my dining room table! It’s so pretty, I don’t want to cover it up with a tablecloth. Instead, I decided to use a table runner and placemats. I bought this table runner a couple of years ago. It’s so cute and looks great on the table. I chose simple placemats in the same neutral color.
MIX AND MATCH DINNERWare
Shop your home and decide what plates you are going to use. Don’t have enough for all your guests, no problem, mix and match to get a whole new look! You should try this tip even if you have enough plates for everyone. It’s fun to try something different! I only have six plates that say “blessed,” so I had to mix things up to have enough place settings for everyone.
ADD EASTER ELEMENTS to your centerpiece
Do you have any bunnies, nests, or birds you can use to make a centerpiece? Set them on a cake plate or cloche to give them some added height. And, voila, you have a simple centerpiece! I used a little bird nest with tiny eggs inside. It’s very simple but makes a big statement. Sometimes less is more!!
Have fun with napkins
Next, pick out napkins that will complement the items you chose to use. It’s okay to use cloth or paper napkins! Since I’m keeping my table completely neutral this year, I will use my white cloth napkins.
ADD SOME FLOWERS OR GREENERY
Do you have flowers or greenery you can use? I decided to add flowers but not in the usual way. Instead of putting them in a vase, I surrounded the cake plate with them. It’s fun to try different things! What do you think? Was this a win, or should I have stuck the roses in a vase?
Add something special
Add a special touch to your table by using napkin rings or personalized place cards. I added several items to my table to add interest. First, I made napkin rings and specially folded the napkins into bows. Then, I added ribbons to bring attention to the centerpiece.
Napkin rings
If you don’t have any napkin holders, make some yourself. To see how I made these cute napkin rings click HERE! As a bonus, I added a tutorial showing how to fold your napkins into a bow!
Ribbon
I thought about using two bunnies or candles on either side of the centerpiece. But I did not want to cover up the flowers around the bottom of the cake plate. So instead, I chose to add curls of ribbon to give the table a little more interest.
It’s so fun to put together a beautiful table to enjoy on special occasions. Did you like my tips for creating a simple Easter tablescape? Let me know in the comments below. Happy Easter to you and yours!
Blessings, Donna and Rich
