I have used the wheat bundle, pictured above, in my Fall decor for a couple of years.
I always put it in a pitcher because I don’t know what else to do with it.
Lucky for me, I was looking at a blog hop and discovered that Jennifer at Cottage on Bunker Hill had made a fantastic wheat centerpiece. It’s so cute you have to see it!
It was just the inspiration I needed!
Out came the wheat bundle from my Fall storage bin, and I got to work!
I made a square bundle similar to Jennifer’s and had some leftover wheat.
So, I decided to make a round bundle as well!
Don’t they look amazing!!
Are you ready to make not one but two dried wheat arrangements?
Let’s get this DIY started!
Gather
Gather or purchase the following supplies:
- Dried wheat
- Ruler
- Scissors
- box
- 12×12 cardstock to match wheat
- empty paper towel roll
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
- ribbon
Steps to make a dried wheat arrangement
Prep
Prepare each base
The first thing you want to do is to cover your box with cardstock that matches the wheat.
My box is black and white, and I don’t want those colors to peek out between the stalks of wheat!
I used my hot glue gun to attach the paper to the box.
Always use caution when working with hot glue.
The glue will burn your fingers if you touch it, so I highly recommend silicone finger protectors!
Next, you’ll cut an empty paper towel roll to 6 inches in length.
It will be the base for your round bundle.
There’s no need to cover it with paper!
Prepare the wheat
For the square bundle, place a piece of wheat on a ruler, as shown above, and cut it to 12 inches long.
For the round bundle, cut to 7 inches long.
Hot Glue
Hot glue each piece of wheat to the box.
Do not let the wheat go below the edge of the box like I did in the picture above.
Luckily, I pushed the two pieces in the center up a bit before the glue dried!
Otherwise, your arrangement will not be level, and sit upright!
This project is so easy, but it takes time to glue all the pieces to the base!
Add Ribbon
Choose a ribbon that matches your decor.
You could also use burlap or jute twine to wrap around your bundle!
I wanted my bundle to have a more elegant look than a casual or rustic look.
So, I chose to use a pretty wired ribbon.
I don’t want this ribbon to be permanent. So, I simply wrapped it around the arrangement.
Then, I tied it in a knot on the front side.
I repeated each step to make the smaller round bundle!
style your dried wheat arrangements
These dried wheat bundles would look great as a centerpiece on a table, in a vignette, or standing alone.
The possibilities are endless!
Here are a few ways I styled them in my home!
I decided to google dried wheat arrangement to see how much something like this would cost!
Most of them were in between the $50-$90 range!
My bundles were free because I already had everything on hand!
Can you believe it???
I’m so excited about this DIY!
I hope you’ll try to make some dried wheat bundles to decorate your home for Fall this year!
