Instead of starting from scratch, I discovered how to add cozy touches around the house with items I already have!

Let me show you how simple it is to create a warm, inviting home that feels just right all season long!
Cozy Winter Decor Ideas Using Garlands
Garlands aren’t just for Christmas—they’re one of my favorite ways to decorate for winter because they instantly add softness and texture.
One easy way to use a garland is to place it in a dough bowl and layer antique bells for a simple, cozy focal point.
I placed ours on the mantel in the living room.

Another option is draping a garland across a console table.
I like to keep it loose and natural.
This is such an easy way to make an entryway or living space feel inviting during the winter months.

I also used a garland to create a simple winter wreath and hung it on our mirror—an easy DIY project that works beautifully after Christmas.

Creative Ways to Use Mini Wreaths for Winter Decor
Mini wreaths are one of those decor pieces that are easy to overlook, but they’re perfect for winter decorating after Christmas.
They add a touch of greenery without feeling overwhelming and work well in so many unexpected ways.
One simple idea is hanging mini wreaths inside frames.

This created interesting artwork for our staircase.

Next, I tied one to the frame hanging over our stove with white velvet ribbon.
Here’s a fun trick…

Attach three mini wreaths together with white bows to create the look of a larger wreath—this is a great option if you want something a little more substantial without buying a full-size wreath.
It’s such a small detail, but it adds charm and softness and helps the space feel thoughtfully styled for winter.
Tuck in Winter Greenery Picks
Greenery picks are the perfect base for winter decorating, and I like to add them throughout the house for a soft, natural look.

I placed greenery picks into a couple of the ironstone soup tureens (along with a pinecone) to add some color to our built-in bookshelves in the living room.

The same greenery picks look fabulous under our metal cloches.

Next, I added longer picks to a tall vase and placed it on a cutting board on the kitchen counter.
To round out the vignette, I placed a white pitcher and my thrifted mini sleigh.

Then, I filled it with smaller picks and pinecones.

On the kitchen table, I placed a long basket and filled it with greenery picks, pinecones, and small gold bells.
I love how these cozy winter decor ideas for after Christmas focus on layering pieces that feel seasonal without looking like holiday decor.
Styling White Houses and Bottlebrush Trees for Winter
After Christmas, I packed away our North Pole village because it very clearly screams Christmas.
As I was putting it away, I realized that my plain white ceramic houses could stay out and still feel perfect for winter.
I styled the white houses on the buffet in our eat-in kitchen to create a soft, neutral winter display.

Then, I added white bottlebrush trees and wooden snowmen to add interest while keeping the look light and cohesive.
Incorporate Tabletop Evergreen Trees
Tabletop evergreen trees are one of my favorite ways to add instant winter charm.

I placed two small trees on each end of the buffet, and I love how they frame the sweet village.

Another tree looks so cute inside a milk glass bowl.
And I almost forgot, I have one more mini wreath and another bowl with evergreen picks and pinecones in this spot.
Decorating with Wood Trees and Natural Textures
Wood accents add warmth to winter decor and help balance all of the greenery and whites.

I placed a couple of white DIY scrap wood trees on the kitchen counter for a simple, handcrafted touch.
Then, I placed a cutting board behind each one so they didn’t get lost against the white backsplash.
Since I like to group items in “threes”, I placed a milkglass piece next to the trees.
On the plate rack, I layered tree-shaped cutting boards with white platters and smaller cutting boards to add subtle seasonal interest.
In all honesty, I decorated this for Christmas and forgot to pack the trees, so it automatically became winter decor, and I’m not sad about it!
Adding Soft Light to Cozy Winter Decor
I’m always a little sad to take the Christmas trees down, and I especially miss the twinkling lights once they’re gone.
To keep that cozy glow around a bit longer, I like to find a few simple ways to incorporate light into our winter decor.
I added fairy lights to a wreath for a soft, subtle glow that works well after Christmas.
On the console table, I used candlesticks with battery-operated candles placed around the garland to create warmth and balance.
I also added lighted branches to the arrangement on the kitchen counter, which brings in that twinkling light I love without feeling like holiday decor.
The lighted branches were inside a vase I bought at the thrift store, and I was pleasantly surprised when I plugged them in, and they worked!
Simple touches like these make winter spaces feel welcoming, especially in the evenings.
