We’re turning these tinsel-covered hanging shamrocks into…

A set of moss-covered shamrocks!
This budget-friendly DIY will give you the elegant, natural look of designer decor at a fraction of the cost!
Steps To Make DIY St Patrick’s Day Decor
Gather Materials
Gather the following materials to complete this project:
- Shamrocks- Dollar Tree
- Moss mat
- Wire cutters
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Silicone finger protectors
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Dowel rods– three
- Miter shears– optional
Prep the Shamrocks

- Undo the plastic rings and unhook the shamrocks from each other.
- Remove the tinsel from the plastic forms.

- Use the wire cutters and remove the plastic pieces from inside each leaf.
- Cut the circles off the top and bottom of the shamrock.
- Cut the plastic piece in the center of the stem.
Cut the Moss

Unroll the moss mat and cut strips of moss the same width as a ruler.

Cut the strip into two five-inch pieces; you’ll have a little leftover.
Attach the Moss

- Wrap the moss around the plastic form, staring in the center. (Notice: Below my fingernail was a square corner of moss, but I rounded it off with scissors to remove the bulk.)

- Apply hot glue to the inside of the moss strip and push them together while wearing silicone finger protectors!
Tip- Be very careful when using a glue gun. The glue is very hot and can cause blisters if it touches the skin. We highly recommend using finger protectors!
- Glue a second strip to the opposite side and then glue the smaller pieces to the top curves of the leaves.
- Repeat the steps until the three leaves are covered.
Complete with Dowel Rod

- Insert the dowel rod into the stem and hot glue the pieces together, holding until the glue dries.

- Adhere moss to the front and back of the stem.

- If you want your shamrocks to be different heights, use miter shears to cut the dowel rods. (I cut one inch off one topiary and two inches off another.)
Display Your DIY St Patrick’s Day Decor
These elegant shamrocks add a touch of greenery and charm to your home, making them a stylish seasonal accent for mantels, tables, or entryways.

I decided to display our shamrocks in amber glass bottles.

I inserted bits of green Spanish moss around the bottle’s opening to keep them upright.

Then, set the bottles in a tray filled with eucalyptus garland.
It’s a fun way to add a touch of high-end St. Patrick’s Day charm to your home without spending a fortune!
Alternative styling options
I’m styling my moss shamrocks in amber glass bottles for a vintage-inspired look, but there are plenty of other ways to display them!
If you don’t have bottles, place them in small vases or terra cotta pots or secure them in wooden blocks.
You could also tuck them into a decorative planter filled with moss or pebbles for added texture.
No matter how you style them, these festive shamrocks will bring a sophisticated touch to your St. Patrick’s Day decor!
Conclusion
Can you believe how easy it is to turn inexpensive Dollar Tree finds into stunning high-end DIY St Patrick’s Day decor?

These moss shamrocks add a perfect touch of greenery and just the right amount of seasonal charm to your home!
I hope this DIY inspires you to create your own festive decor—may a little luck and a lot of style fill your home this season!
