The flowers were so pretty that I wanted to devise another way to use them, and this Valentine’s Day DIY heart wreath was born!
Not only is this project budget-friendly and one-of-a-kind, but it’s also a heartfelt way to add a handmade touch to your home decor.
Whether you hang it on your front door or display it as a centerpiece indoors, this wreath is sure to spread love and cheer all season long.
Let’s get started on this creative and fun DIY project!
Steps to Make a DIY Valentine’s Day Wreath
Gather
Gather the following materials to complete this project:
- Heart wreath- Dollar Tree
- Wire cutters
- Hot glue gun & glue sticks
- Silicone finger protectors
- Round loom kit– I purchased a set at Hobby Lobby that includes three looms, a yarn needle, and a loom pick
- Yarn– I used four different colors in various widths
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Fabric stiffening spray
- Wax paper
Make Yarn Flowers
I made seven flowers on the small loom and five on the medium loom.
I have a separate post on how to make the yarn flowers here, or you can watch the YouTube video below!
Prep the Wreath Form
Take a wreath form and use wire cutters to remove the largest heart.
Set aside the smaller section for a future DIY project.
Adhere the Yarn Flowers
Protect your work surface with wax paper.
Apply hot glue to the back of your yarn flower and attach it to the wire heart.
Note- hot glue can burn your skin. To avoid blisters, we recommend using finger protectors.
Continue until all of the flowers adhere to the wire heart.
Pull the wreath away from the wax paper and turn it over.
Apply hot glue over the wire to ensure each flower stays attached to the form.
When the glue dries, your wreath is ready to hang!
Isn’t it sweet? I’m so excited to decorate with it!

Hi Donna, this wreath is so pretty. It’s a great way to use the flowers. The pastel colors will work for early spring.
Stay warm. I know Florida is cold. I love it but you’re not used to it anymore.

Hello Cindy and thanks! I just adore those yarn flowers and wanted to think of another way to use them! We are so cold down here today, definitely not used to temps in the 30s!! I’ll be staying inside all day, lol!!
