August certainly didn’t look the way we thought it would, and it turned out to be a much quieter month than usual around here!
Sometimes life has a way of making you slow down whether you’re ready for it or not.

But even during an unexpected season, there are still plenty of reasons to be grateful and little moments worth celebrating.
As we say goodbye to August, we’re also getting excited about the change of seasons ahead.
So grab your favorite drink, get comfy, and join us as we rewind the month and look forward to all that September has in store!
What We Did Behind the Scenes in August
We spent most of August close to home, but thankfully, there were still a few outings—and one very special milestone—to celebrate!
Here’s a little peek at what life looked like for us this month.
An Update on My Broken Foot
If you’re new to the blog or missed our last update, I fell during my morning walk on July 31st and broke my foot.
I also injured the muscles around my ribs, and believe it or not, that was much more painful than my foot!
The first couple of weeks were pretty rough.
Getting up and down was difficult, and even using my knee scooter hurt my ribs.
Thankfully, the last two weeks have been so much easier.
I had my one-month follow-up appointment with the foot and ankle specialist last Friday, and we got good news—the X-ray showed that my foot is healing well!
He gave me the okay to start putting a little weight on it each day while wearing the boot.
However, he warned me that the more I stay off of it, the faster it will heal, so my knee scooter and I will remain close companions for a while longer!
I go back in a month for another X-ray, and hopefully, everything will continue to heal as it should.
I’m just thankful to be feeling so much better than I was at the beginning of August!
And now, I’m excited to tell you the best thing that happened this month!
A Big Milestone for Rich

Rich finished his radiation treatments and got to ring the bell at the cancer center!
After seven weeks of treatments, five days a week, it was such a wonderful milestone to celebrate.
We are so grateful to have this part of his journey behind us and thankful that God gave us the strength to take it one day at a time.
We also want to thank each of you who prayed, sent encouraging messages, and checked in on us along the way.
Your kindness and prayers have meant more to us than you know.
We have felt incredibly blessed and supported throughout this journey, and we are trusting God as we move forward into this next chapter.
A COUPLE OF TRIPS TO THE MOVIES
After spending so much time at home the first two weeks, Rich and Griffin decided I needed to get out of the house and talked me into seeing the new Spider-Man movie.
I figured I could sit at home with my foot propped up, or in a comfy theater recliner with it propped up, so why not?
It felt great to get out and do something normal for a change!
Apparently, one movie wasn’t enough because we headed back to the theater last weekend to see the new Looney Tunes movie.
Who knew recovering from a broken foot would turn August into movie month?
At least it’s one outing I can enjoy while still keeping my foot up!
A Quick Trip to Disney Springs

We also squeezed in a little outing after one of my doctor appointments.
Since we were already out, we headed to Disney Springs and had a meal at The Polite Pig.
It’s right next to the parking garage, so I didn’t have to go far on my knee scooter—which was perfect because it was way too hot for me to even think about shopping!
Rich left me relaxing at the restaurant while he made one quick stop at Erin McKenna’s Bakery to pick up dessert for us to take home.

HOME ORGANIZATION WEEKLY TASK

We hope you’ve been following along and organizing something in your home each week!
During September, we’re turning our attention to the entertaining spaces in our homes.
The holidays will be here before we know it, so now is the perfect time to declutter and organize the rooms where we’ll welcome family and friends.
A little work now can make preparing for gatherings much easier later!
- Week 36- Entryways. Let’s start with the first space guests see when they enter your home! Declutter your entryway and find designated spots for everyday items like shoes, bags, keys, and mail. Don’t forget to straighten up a coat closet, console table, or drop zone if you have one.
- Week 37- Dining room. Next, we’ll tackle the dining room so it’s ready for fall dinners and upcoming holiday gatherings. Declutter surfaces and organize your table linens, serving pieces, and other entertaining essentials. If you don’t have a formal dining room, use this week to organize the area where your family typically gathers for meals.
- Week 38- Living room. This week, focus on making your living room feel comfortable and clutter-free. Remove unnecessary items from tables and shelves, corral items, and organize blankets, pillows, books, and anything else you keep in this space.
- Week 39- Family room. We’ll finish the month in the family room! Take some time to declutter and organize the things your family uses for entertaining, such as games, movies, remotes, and electronics. If you don’t have a separate family room, use this week to tackle another gathering space—or give your living room a little extra attention before the holiday season begins
