I think of warmer days, sunshine, bird nests, bunnies, and tulips!
Several weeks ago, I was shopping at Michael’s and spotted these beautiful tulips!
I knew they would be perfect for a wreath on my front door!
My first thought was to arrange them in the basket, but then, I remembered I made a floral basket wreath last year for my spring porch and decided to go a different route!
Steps to Make a tulip wreath
Gather
Gather the following items to make this wreath:
- Tulips- six bunches-I purchased mine at Michael’s for 50% off
- Wire wreath form-Dollar Tree
- Floral wire
- Wire cutters
Prep
I will not attach the tulips to the wreath form permanently because I want to use them in flower arrangements or other ways in the coming years!
Prepare the tulips by pulling them off of their wire stems.
Cut the floral wire into 8-inch pieces. You will need one wire for every three tulips.
Group three tulips into a set and wrap floral wire around them.
Make sure you vary the colors each time you wrap a new set.
Make a tulip wreath
Attach the first set of tulips by wrapping the wire around the two inner wires of the form.
Next, push the stems inside the wreath form.
Make sure you start where the wires are connected so the tulips can’t slide up and down the wire, like in the picture above.
When you add the next set of tulips, wrap the wire around the stems of the previous tulips.
Continue this step around the wreath form!
This is what it will look like!
Unfortunately, you can still see the innermost wire of the wreath form, but I have the perfect solution to that problem!
Lay a single tulip against the wire and then twist the stem around it.
I turned the wreath upside down so you can see how I wrapped the tulip stem around the inside wire.
Continue adding single tulips all the way around.
This is what the back will look like when you’re done!
And here’s the front!
Problem solved!
Isn’t it the brightest and most cheerful wreath you’ve ever seen!!
Let’s go hang it on my front door!
Hang your tulip wreath
Look how the beautiful colors pop against the black door!
This tulip wreath makes me so excited to get outside and spruce up our front porch!
Loving the bright colors for Spring!

First, the colors you chose for this wreath are FABULOUS! I love them. Secondly – how smart is it to buy a tulip plant and then to snip off the individual tulips. Thank you for the clear instructions and tutorial. Also, your photographs were super helpful. Happy Spring!!
