I know organizing the entire bathroom can seem overwhelming!
But guess what…I have a strategy that makes the organization process easy!
Let me show you how!
Use the 6/P Strategy for master bathroom organization
We will use the 6/P Strategy in each area of the bathroom! Decide what area you’d like to start with!!
Do each of the following steps (if you need info on how to do the 6/P Strategy click here):
PREP
Bring the following items to your bathroom:
- Trash bag
- Cardboard box
- 2 laundry hampers
PURGE
Remove all items from the area you are organizing and place each in one of the following categories:
- Trash-Throw any expired or unwanted items in the trash bag
- Donate-place any items that you no longer use but are in great shape in the box to be donated
- Relocate-Place any items that don’t belong in the bathroom in laundry hamper # 1
- Replace-Place any items that need to stay in the bathroom in laundry hamper #2
POLISH
Take this opportunity to give your bathroom a deep cleaning.
PERSONALIZE
It’s time to decide how you will organize the space to meet your personal needs. I have provided a printable to help you figure this out. Besides organizing, think about how to beautify the space. Have you ever dreamed of turning your bath into a spa? Now is also the time to decide what items you can make or purchase to help you contain all the items you will put back into your cabinets, drawers, and closet.
PLACE
Now it’s time to place everything in its new spot!
- Trash-discard in your garbage can
- Donate- Don’t procrastinate, take items to your local donation center!
- Relocate-take laundry hamper #1 and deliver items to the room they belong in
- Replace-place every item in the spot you have found for it.
PUT BACK
Remember, if you don’t put each item back in its appropriate place after each use, you will end up with a cluttered mess again!!
How I Personalized My Bathroom
I showed you a great organization strategy for the master bathroom and now I want to show you how I personalized my bathroom. I will break down the room into sections and cover each one separately!
organize bathroom Countertops
Before
This is my vanity counter before we remodeled the bathroom. To see our no-demo makeover of this bathroom click here! My make-up was nicely organized in the clear container but made the counter look too cluttered. I decided to move the make-up I used daily to my drawer. Then I relocated the container to my cabinet. Next, I took the oil-rubbed bronze containers and spray-painted them black. Then I relocated them to Rich’s counter.
After
I purchased clear glass containers to hold cotton pads and cotton swabs. The mirror was a necessity because I can’t see to put my mascara on when seated at the vanity!! Here’s a great tip: Use a tray on the counter to contain smaller items and make a pretty vignette! Such a win-win!!
Conceal outlets & cords
I put this flower arrangement on my counter to conceal an outlet. When I am charging my electric toothbrush, and have my Waterpik plugged in, it hides the cords. This allows my counter to be beautiful but functional at the same time!
Containers
I spray-painted the containers black and put them on Rich’s counter. They hold extra bar soap and cotton swabs.
Master bathroom Cabinet & drawer Organization
First, let’s take a look at my cabinet and drawers.
Hanging basket
This basket hangs on the back of the cabinet drawer and stores the hair tools I use regularly! I love this little organization wonder!!
Make-up storage
Here are my make-up containers stored inside the cabinet. I can bring the containers to the counter and replace them when I finish! I like this setup so much better!
Plastic containers
I store all of my mani/Pedi items in plastic containers. When I need them, I pull out the container and put them back when I finish!
Divide drawers
Small divided bins work great to organize and separate items. I have things for my hair on the left. Facial products in the middle, and tooth care products on the right!
Now we’ll go to the other side of the bathroom and look at Rich’s cabinet and drawers!
Mesh cabinet
I like these mesh cabinets that have pull-out drawers and can be stacked. This is a great place to store our back stock of toiletry items.
Taller items like sunscreen and lotion are stored in this organizer.
We keep our trash can inside the cabinet to keep our dogs from getting into it! Does anyone else have that problem???
Interlocking drawer organizer
I use these interlocking organizers inside Rich’s drawer! I love them because you can configure them in different ways, it’s like putting a puzzle together!!
organize bathroom Closet
None of the houses we previously owned had a closet in the bathroom. I feel so fortunate to have one now! I had a lot of fun organizing this space. This is what it looked like shortly after we moved in.
before
This isn’t too messy but I searched the house for all my gray and white bins so it would look nicer!
after
So much better now and it’s easy to find things since they are labeled!
Use coordinating bins
I used these cute baskets to store extra bedding, travel toiletry bags, and a heating pad.
Store toilet paper
Next, I purchased this see-through container for toilet paper. I like to use an open container so other people can locate the toilet paper if needed. Also, I can visually see when it’s time to buy more!
Store towels
You can fold, stack, or roll towels your towels. Whatever your preference or whatever fits your space!
The rolling technique works great for our beach towels. I love that this large basket has wheels and can be rolled out of the closet for guests to grab a towel before going to the pool!! I store our beach blanket in a bag next to the towels!
store medicine
These stacking containers work great to organize and store our medicine. I keep medicine that we occasionally use in the large container on the bottom. Two smaller containers sit on top of it. One has my vitamins and medications I take every day. Rich’s container of daily meds and vitamins is behind mine.
Store first aid kit
I found this adorable metal tin to store our first aid products. Isn’t it cute, it came from Home Goods!
organize the Water closet
We decided to use the vertical space over our toilet for storage. We brought these with us from Kentucky and I painted them white. The square boxes are perfect for hiding feminine hygiene products!
Add a basket or tray on the back of the toilet to coral items or toilet paper.
organize the shower
I mounted clear suction cups to the tile to hold our scrunchies.
Use a shower caddy to corral all of your products. I purchased this one that sits on the floor. In our other bathrooms, we have a caddy that hangs from the showerhead.
Organize the bathtub
I like to add pretty decor items to my bathtub to make it feel more like a spa!
First, I added a dried floral arrangement, and then some candles for ambiance!
Apothecary jars
Store bath items like bath salts or bombs in pretty containers. Apothecary jars work great for this!
wet Towels
It’s important to have a place to hang wet towels to dry. I use a towel rack on the back of the bathroom door.
I hope my 6/P Strategy and tips on personalization have made master bathroom organization seem easy! Do you need to organize any of the bathrooms in your home?? Let me know in the comments below!
