No problem!
We have four ways to easily add a bit of patriotic flair for the holiday!
But first, I have a surprise to share!
Today’s post is part of a blog hop!
The Cozy Creative Collaborative Blog Hop
We are happy to join the ladies of The Cozy Creative Collaborative for their monthly blog hop! Each month they gather together, and invite a guest blogger, to share seasonal inspiration and the month of June is about patriotic ideas!
If you’re joining us from Kelly at The Tattered Pew, thanks so much for stopping by! Aren’t her patriotic Mod Podge sea shells so creative and gorgeous?
After you read our post be sure to hop over and see how Nicolle at Our Tiny Nest made a Fireworks Ice Cream Brownie Sundae! It looks so yummy and is sure to make a “bang” with your family or guests!
At the end of this post, you’ll find the links to all of the patriotic ideas!
If this is your first time visiting our blog, welcome! We are turning our builder-grade home into a beautiful, functional, and unique space we love one budget-friendly DIY project at a time! We also host seasonal home organization challenges and share decor inspiration! We’re so glad you are here!
Now let’s talk about four simple ways to add patriotic touches to celebrate the 4th of July!
1) Purchase inexpensive items from a local store
You can buy inexpensive items at your local craft store, Walmart, or Target. It’s not too late to order online if you have Amazon Prime!
Display a Bunting or flag
Display your patriotism by hanging a flag or bunting inside or outside your home!
This is a great investment because you can use it year after year!
Hang a banner
One of the easiest ways to decorate for a special celebration is to hang a banner! We purchased this one at Walmart last year! It was cheaper for me to buy it than make it!
put small flags in a vase
Many stores carry these small flags and they are perfect to decorate with! Add them to a vase, a floral centerpiece, a basket, or a wreath!
show off colored straws in a Glass
Colored straws are so cute and add pops of color to your decor!
hang paper fans
Paper fans are such a fun and festive way to decorate for a special occasion. Hang them at varying heights to add interest to your space!
2) Shop your house for red, white, and blue
Look for items around your house that are red, white, and blue, or have a patriotic feel and lay them out on your counter!
Now get creative and figure out how to use the items you already have.
This is how we used the items we found in our home!
Display napkins in a basket
We wrapped eating utensils inside red, white, and blue cloth napkins and then tucked them in a basket!
incorporate red, white, and blue dishes
Plates
We pulled out these pretty blue and white plates. If you don’t have dishes in patriotic colors you can purchase disposable paper plates.
Pitcher
Use a pitcher to make a patriotic floral arrangement! This pretty red and white thrifted pitcher looks perfect with white hydrangea.
Cake plates
Cake plates with red bases work wonderfully to hold cupcakes!
3) Do an easy DIY project
You still have time to make these very simple DIY projects that anyone can do!
Create paper stars
Grab some cardstock and cut out stars. You can make a garland with them or attach them to white candy sticks like we did!
Frame patriotic stickers
You probably have an empty frame at your house so why not grab it and make a patriotic picture?
It’s as simple as adding a sticker to cardstock and inserting it in the frame.
Decorate with ribbon
Add a bow to a plain wreath
Instead of buying or making a wreath specific to a holiday, get a plain wreath and make a bow that you can switch out for each holiday!
We made a bow from star ribbon and then added one of the paper stars to the center of it!
Wrap ribbon around a basket
A subtle way to add patriotic flair is to add ribbon around a basket! This can also be changed out for different holidays!
4) Serve red, white, and blue food
If decorating for the holiday isn’t your thing you can make your meal look festive by serving red, white, and blue food items! No culinary expertise is needed for any of these simple and inexpensive ideas!
Cupcakes topped with fruit
We made these gluten and dairy-free cupcakes for our celebration, but you can buy cupcakes from the store and then add fruit, candy, or sprinkles to the top!
red, white, and blue Popcorn mix
Did you know you can buy a bag of red, white, and blue M&M’s during this time of year?
We paired popcorn with peanut M&M’s, so yummy!
Patriotic colored candy
There are so many types of candy with red and blue wrappers that you can decorate your table with. It doesn’t get easier than that!
Fruit skewers
We made fruit skewers with grapes, strawberries, marshmallows, and watermelon cut with a star cookie cutter!
Drinks
We even found drinks with red, white, and blue wrappers! So festive!
Oh yes, don’t forget the sparklers to help you light up the night!
Here’s to the red, white, and blue and wishing you and yours a happy 4th of July!
