Today I’m joining my friends from the Handcrafted Society to share inspiring DIY projects!
Our challenge for May is to make something from dried or pressed flowers!
It is interesting to see each person’s interpretation of the same medium.
So after you see our project, check out the other bloggers’ links at the end of this post.
Steps To Make A Dried Flower Arrangement
Gather
Gather the following items to complete this project:
- Cloche- purchased from Home Goods several years ago
- Dried flowers- Hobby Lobby
- Styrofoam disc- Walmart
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Moss- Walmart
- Hot glue gun & glue sticks- Amazon
- Silicone finger protectors- Amazon
Tips to Select Flowers
Choose dried flowers that complement each other in color, texture, and shape.
I bought a bouquet of dried flowers from Hobby Lobby (when they were 40% off) so the colors go beautifully together.
I removed them from the bag and separated them into groups.
Prepare your Cloche
Select a suitable cloche size and style for the arrangement.
Measure the glass lid of the cloche to see how tall your flowers can be.
Clean the glass dome and set it aside.
Place the styrofoam disc on the base to provide the foundation for the arrangement.
Arrange Dried Flowers
Think about the arrangement layout and decide on your focal point.
Cut the stem and insert the dried flower into the center of the base.
Continue adding dried flowers at different heights to add and balance, and proportion.
After placing a few flowers, add moss around the stems and work towards the outer edge.
Adjust the arrangement as needed for symmetry and visual appeal, then adhere moss to the outside edge of the base with hot glue.
Be careful with hot glue because it can burn you, I highly recommend using silicone finger protectors.
Display Your Dried Flower Arrangement
Today, I’m displaying our cloche on the mantel but it will look beautiful in any room of our home!
You can create a stunning dried floral display with a few simple steps and a touch of imagination!
I highly encourage you to gather some dried flowers, select a cloche that suits your style, and create a decor piece that will bring joy and elegance to your home for months.
In Conclusion
Crafting a dried flower arrangement in a cloche is a delightful way to preserve the beauty of blooms and adds charm to any space in your home.
