The other day I went to Target to get my allergy-friendly food staples, and came home with bunny plant figurals!
I bet you’re asking yourself, what in the world are bunny plant figurals?
I had never heard of them either, but when I saw them, I knew I had to have them!
This is the picture on the box!
See how adorable those bunnies look holding up the plant!
However, the first thought that crossed my mind was using them to make a small tray, which could also be used as a plant stand!
So in the cart, they went!
The only problem was, I had no idea what I was going to use as a tray!
I thought Dollar Tree would have a round sign or piece of wood that would work, but I was wrong.
I eventually ended up at Walmart in the craft section and found the perfect item to make the tray!
It’s a mandala plaque you can paint and hang on your wall!
However, when you turn it over, it looks like this!
I thought the size was perfect and loved that it had an edge, so items wouldn’t be able to slide off it!
So I bought it, and guess what?
It turned out so cute!
Steps to make a DIY bunny tray
This DIY is so easy, it only requires four steps!
Gather
Gather or purchase the following items to complete this project:
- Bunny Plant Figurals-Target- Dollar Spot
- Lotus Mandala Plaque- Walmart- craft section
- Chalk paint – Annie Sloan- Old White
- Paintbrush
- Wax- Annie Sloan -Clear
- Wax brush
- Lint-free paper towels
- E6000 glue
Paint
Paint the bunnies and the tray and let them dry.
It took three coats of paint to get the coverage I wanted.
Wax
The next step is to seal the paint with wax.
Apply the wax with a brush, and then wipe off the excess with a lint-free paper towel.
Adhere
The last step is to adhere the bunnies to the tray.
I used E6000 and then sat a couple of heavy photo boxes on top of the tray to hold them together while the glue dried.
And you’re all done!
Display Your DIY Bunny Tray
The tray looks wonderful as the base of a cloche.
Works beautifully to hold a vignette of topiaries!
Lay a napkin on it and serve cookies or cupcakes!
It makes a perfect plant stand!
I’m so glad I put those sweet bunnies in my cart!
Now, I wonder what I’ll find next week at the Target Dollar Spot.
