Or at least I keep telling myself that.
It’s hard to believe when it’s 80 degrees every day!
Oh well, even if I’m not feeling those colder temps, or seeing the leaves start to change color, I can make my home feel like Fall!!
Today I want to talk about one of my very favorite things to do!
Decorate with pumpkins!!
Let’s head outdoors so I can show you the steps we took to decorate our porch!
Seven steps to decorate your porch for fall
1. Clean
The first step isn’t very exciting, but I always clean my porch when I switch out decor for the seasons.
2. Add a Rug
To make the area feel more like a true living space add a rug. It will give your porch a more cozy feel!
Don’t forget a rug or doormat for the front door, to help keep the dirt out instead of in!
Or better yet, add both, and layer them!
3. Outdoor Furniture
Every porch needs a comfy place to sit so you can relax and enjoy the weather!
Don’t forget to add a table so you have a place to put your favorite beverage!!
4. Pillows
Another great way to make the outdoors feel like a comfortable living space is to add a decorative pillow.
5. Accessorize
Shop your house for some accessories to use outdoors.
Lanterns are perfect for this space.
Plan a DIY project and make something for your porch.
Every year I purchase something new for the season and this year, I decided to make a neutral pumpkin topiary to add to my Fall decor.
6. Add a wreath
Your porch won’t have a finished look until you add a wreath to the front door.

7. Add natural elements
It wouldn’t be a Fall porch without pumpkins and mums!
There you have my seven simple steps to organize your front porch!

My Fall Porch Inspiration
The inspiration for my front porch came from my Fall wreath.
I love how it turned out and decided to use the same elements and colors in the rest of my decor.
colors
I’m so excited I was able to find real pumpkins that matched the colors on my wreath!
Don’t you think the green and white pumpkins look lovely!?
I adore how color-coordinated the whole porch is!
bows
I made the same bows for the lantern, that I used on my wreath.
If you’d like to know how I made them click here to go to my wreath tutorial!
I tucked the same bows around my pumpkin topiary.
coordinate items
The black and white buffalo check and burlap bows match my rugs perfectly!
I recovered the cushion of my chair in black Sunbrella fabric.
Then I added this cute black and white striped pillow that I bought at Walmart at the beginning of summer!

I love your porch deco. My porch is very similar to yours except my front door is on opposite side (where your chair is). My question is what did you use to hang your wreath. We just painted ours but I don’t want a hanger that will mess it up when I have to remove it. Thanks, Vivianne
Donna Allen says
Hi Vivianne! I use two black Command Hooks placed right beside each other! One command hook won’t hold some of my heavier wreaths, but two hooks, side-by-side, work great!! Hope that helps!
