Yard sale season is in full swing!
Look how happy Rich is to be dragging our wagon up and down hills in the hot sun, lol!
He likes to bargain hunt as much as I do, so he doesn’t mind!
Why should you shop at yard sales & Thrift stores?
Mainly because you can find fabulous home decor at bargain prices!
We decorate our home for the different seasons, so I can’t spend high dollars on decor items.
Sometimes I find items in perfect condition, and other times I find things I like, but it’s the wrong color or needs to be spruced up.
Usually, it’s nothing that paint can’t fix.
If you’re willing to DIY, you’ll find more items to take home!
Are you ready to see what treasures we’ve found this Summer?
Renninger’s Yard Sale
Renninger’s is located in Mount Dora, Florida, and is open on the weekends.
It consists of two buildings and several open-air markets.
The Farmer’s and Flea Market is pictured above.
A second building hosts antique and consignment vendors.
In between the two buildings is an open field where they host special events throughout the year.
Three weekends during the summer they host a Yard Sale!
The next one is scheduled for August 18-20!!
Here are our latest yard sales finds from there!
Ceramic Vase
Have you visited Pottery Barn’s website lately?
It’s filled with beautiful ceramic and terra cotta vases and vessels!
I think the cheapest one I saw started at $39.00.
I found this one that is similar in shape for $6.00!
Someone attempted to DIY it already, but it’s a bit dark for my taste, so I plan to lighten it up with paint!
Stay tuned for the Pottery Barn ceramic vase dupe!
Artichoke sculptures
I purchased the smallest artichoke in the picture above from the At Home Store several years ago.
You can still purchase it now for $12.99.
That’s a huge bargain compared to similar items online.
Most of the sculptures I saw there were $40.00 or over.
We got the set of two tall artichokes for only $10.00!
Apothecary jars
Apothecary jars are so beautiful and fun to decorate with.
In stores, the size jars we bought will cost you over $20.00 apiece.
Most vendors will negotiate the price, but occasionally you’ll meet someone who won’t.
I paid $10.00 for the tallest jar with the lemons because the seller was firm on his price.
At another booth, I spotted the jar with the limes, and that seller was willing to take $5.00.
Baskets
Baskets are wonderful decor items because they look great and are very functional for storage.
I don’t have a lot of large baskets because they’re expensive.
Imagine my surprise when I scored this set of tall baskets for only $10.00!
I couldn’t believe it because they are like brand new!
Brown Transferware
When we moved, I started collecting white dishes and ironstone to decorate our home.
Another item I wanted to collect was transferware.
I’m most drawn to brown, green, and red, but I started with brown since it’s a neutral color.
I have had difficulty finding brown transferware pieces in local thrift stores near me.
When I spotted this brown lidded vegetable tureen, by JHW & Sons, I wanted to jump for joy!
I was even happier because I paid $20.00 for it!
It’s my favorite piece I’ve collected so far!
Local Thrift Store
I didn’t have as much luck finding treasures in our local thrift store as I did at Renninger’s yard sale, but I did find a couple of interesting items.
Sea Shell Plates
As I said, I collect white dishes and spotted some unique plates in the shape of sea shells.
Since we live in Florida, I thought a coastal tablescape with these cute dishes would be perfect!
The set was $7.00, so I paid one dollar a plate!
Tissue Box Holder
I like to keep a box of tissues on my bathroom counter, but I don’t care for the crazy colors and designs of the boxes.
I’m searching for a tissue box cover but can’t find any in stores.
They used to be everywhere, so maybe they’re considered out of style now?
The one place I did find some was at the thrift store!
For only $2.00 I couldn’t pass it up!
It’s brown and does not match my bathroom, but you can see how I transformed it with paint here!
