I’ve been displaying them on my dining room table!
They are my new favorite pumpkins and guess what…
they match my china beautifully!
After I set the table, I thought it looked pretty, but something was missing.
It needed a little extra!
If you’ve been around the blog for a while, you know how much I like to add a little something extra!
So, I decided to make plate chargers to match the pumpkin display!
I needed something that was gold and white and looked elegant!
So, I came up with a Dollar Tree DIY that’s super cheap, I mean affordable, but looks high-end!
I can’t wait to show you what I did with these Dollar Tree faux leather leaves!
Are you ready to see them?
Let’s start crafting!
Steps to make super easy DIY plate chargers
Gather
Gather the following items to make this project:
- Plate chargers- I used 4 gold plate chargers that I already had. You can purchase ones that look similar to mine at Dollar Tree. If you want a different color, just paint them.
- Faux leather leaves- 2 bags maple leaves and 2 bags oak leaves-purchased from Dollar Tree.
- Glue dots or a hot glue gun.
- Paint (optional)-I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old Ochre.
- Chip brush-small
- Scissors
Paint leaves
Use a chip brush to paint the leaves.
The jagged edges of the chip brush leave lines that look like veins in the leaf!
Apply two coats of paint if you want complete coverage of the dark underneath color.
Cut stems
Cut the stems off of the leaves.
adhere leaves
Arrange the oak leaves on the charger. Think about a clock and place them in the 12:00, 3:00, 6:00, and 9:00 positions.
I am not going to adhere the leaves permanently to my charger, for two reasons.
First, they will take up more room to store, and second, I want to make a wreath out of these leaves next year!
So, I will be using glue dots to hold the leaves to the chargers. Then I’ll remove them at the end of the season!
If you want to keep the leaves on the charger permanently, use hot glue!
Style your DIY plate chargers
Are you ready to see the finished project?
They look so beautiful!
A plate charger is the easiest way to dress up a table setting!
Can you get over the difference that makes????
So simple, but beautiful!
