Our youngest son stayed at college during the summer, so our middle son has this bathroom all to himself!
Fortunately, he is not a high-maintenance kind of guy, so there are not a ton of items we need to organize.
His main issue is letting clutter build up from empty containers, instead of taking them to the recycle bin!
Does this ever happen at your house?
He has not discovered the best place to store items, so they land on the counter.
Come along as we organize this space and find a home for the products he uses daily in the drawer and cabinets!
First, we’ll show you how we organized our bathroom and got the clutter under control!
Hopefully, that will inspire you to get your bathroom organized.
Then, we have a six-step strategy to help you tackle your bathroom!
Are you ready to start?
organize a bathroom Drawer and cabinets
1)KEEP COUNTERS CLUTTER-FREE
First, we removed the clutter off the counter and determined what should be stored inside the drawer and cabinets.
Only keep the items you use daily on the bathroom counter.
This includes items like a toothbrush holder, disposable cups, hand soap, a tissue box, and hand towels.
2) Use divided bins in drawers
Drawers can get messy fast!
The best way I have found to keep things in order is divided bins.
They keep items separated and easy to see!
3) Store Cleaning products in a container
To make cleaning the bathroom a breeze, keep cleaning solutions contained inside a basket.
We have three bathrooms upstairs, so when the other two need to be cleaned, we can easily carry our cleaning supplies where needed!
4) Neatly fold towels
Fold or roll your towels to keep them tidy in your cabinet.
Donate towels you no longer use.
5) Contain Toiletry items and backstock in baskets
If you have the extra space store bathroom items and backstock in baskets or plastic containers.
More Organizing Tips for the Bathroom
1) Store toilet paper on the back of the toilet
Keep toilet paper within hand’s reach when you run out!
Store it in a basket or bin and sit it on the back of the toilet.
2) Add towel hooks behind the door
If you don’t have much wall space for a towel rack in your bathroom, consider purchasing one that hangs over the back of the door.
3) Use an organizer in the shower
Add shelves to your shower wall to hold the products you use!

PERSONALIZE
It’s time to decide how you will organize each space of your bathroom to best meet your personal needs.
Now is also the time to decide what items you need to make or purchase to help you contain the items you will be putting back into your cabinets and drawers.
If you are going to purchase a storage container, you need to measure your space first to make sure it will fit.
Besides organizing, you might want to think about how to beautify the space. Have you ever dreamed of turning your bath into a spa?

Now it’s time to place everything in its new spot!
- Trash-discard in your garbage can
- Donate- Don’t procrastinate, take items to your local donation center right away!
- Relocate-take laundry hamper #1 and deliver items to the room they belong in.
- Replace-place every item in the spot you have found for it.
PUT BACK
Remember, if you don’t put each item back in its appropriate place after each use, you will end up with a cluttered mess again!!

I have found the older I get, the more I enjoy purging everything. I have been on a mission lately and ridding out this cottage is what I have been working on. After cleaning out two homes over the past two years of loved ones, it makes you think, do I really need all of these things? You always have so many wonderful ideas Donna. Thank you for sharing your inspiration with us.

Just curious, I don’t see hand towels in your bathroom but thought I saw paper towels. Do you just put them in a tray? I am tired of when I have company andthe hand towel get wet and yucky. I would love to find a better, but attractive alternative.
I look at so many blogs and unsubscribe to a lot of them, just because I get bored with them or don’t have time for them. Yours is one I can’t imagine unsubscribing. I really enjoy your ideas and especially your diy crafting!!! Thank you Lee

Thank you so much for your kind words! You just made my day! I’m so glad you enjoy our blog! We do use hand towels in our personal bathrooms for every day use. However, since Covid happened I keep paper towels on a tray on the bathroom counters too and let guests choose which ones they prefer. Some people are very concerned about germs and others are more worried about protecting the environment and saving paper.
Bed, Bath, and Beyond used to carry guest towels in a pretty holder that look fabulous. I’ve also bought a tray from Dollar Tree and spray painted it! The tray on my bathroom counter was a large ceramic spoon rest that I spray painted! Hope that helps!! Blessings, Donna
