Plan a meal of his favorite foods and set a fun and festive table to serve it on.
Setting a Father’s Day table might seem difficult, but I have some simple ideas that any Dad will love!
I created two DIY projects to give the table a more masculine feel!
But I’m getting ahead of myself!
First things first!
Decide on a Color Scheme
Do specific colors come to mind when you think of your Dad?
Does he have a sports team that he loves and wears their colors?
Maybe he has a favorite color that you can incorporate!
I chose black, white, and brown for our Father’s Day table.
I looked through my dishes and picked a black dinner plate with a white salad plate.
If your dishes look more feminine than masculine, you can buy and use paper products in any color you like!
Then, I remembered I had black and white napkins that would be perfect!
We have two types of black and white placemats, but both were too feminine. So I made brown placemats! You’ll see the DIY later in the post!
Now I’m going to shop our house to find something to use for a centerpiece.
Create a fun Centerpiece
This is where you can get creative and discover a theme if you like!
Does your Dad have a hobby or sport he loves? Maybe he’s a fisherman, or he loves to play golf?
Think of ways to incorporate the items he loves into your centerpiece.
You could use a fishing basket and net! Or perhaps golf clubs and balls in a nest of moss!
The possibilities are endless!
While shopping at our house, I found this black leather container and faux grass!
I tucked faux greenery around the grass and grabbed two potted ferns to place on each end!
Instant centerpiece!
Make a unique napkin Ring
If your house is anything like ours, you can walk into the bedroom closets and find at least one belt per person that does not fit or is worn out!
Rather than throw them out, why not upcycle them into unique belt buckle napkin rings?
How cute is that??
The hardest part about making it is getting up the nerve to cut the belt, lol!
Here are the simple steps!
Steps to make a belt buckle napkin ring
Cut the belt to eight inches long with scissors.
Use a chalk marker and make a dot three inches from the buckle.
Punch a hole in the leather belt. I used my Crop-A-Dile tool.
If you don’t have a tool like this, use a hammer and nail instead.
Adhere the end of the belt with hot glue and clip it together until the glue dries. Be very careful, and don’t burn yourself! We recommend using silicone finger protectors!
Add texture with Placemats
Now let’s get back to the placemats!
The leather container and the leather belts gave me the idea to make a leather placemat!
I remembered I had some faux leather material left over from reupholstering these bar stools.
Here’s how I made the placemats! They are super simple!
Steps to make placemats
Trace a circle on the back of the faux leather material. I used a round piece of glass. You can use a charger, a round platter, or a compass.
Cut out the circle and press it if it’s wrinkled like mine was!
Lay it on the table and add your place setting!
It’s that simple!
Now the table is ready!
