Our kitchen is the heart of our home!
We spend so much time there, and it would feel empty if we didn’t decorate it for Christmas!
As much as I like to decorate and make things look pretty, I never want to sacrifice function for beauty!
So, I had to figure out a way to decorate without adding clutter!
First, I like to decide on a theme for each area I decorate.
The theme in the kitchen is fruit and evergreens.
You can use a different theme and still incorporate the ideas I’m sharing today!
11 ways to decorate Your Kitchen for Christmas
Here are eleven of our favorite ways to add Christmas decor to your kitchen!
1)Hang a wreath/swag
Hang a wreath someplace in your kitchen!
We have one above our stove. It hangs by a suction cup hook. You could also use a command hook. We take it down when using the backburners.
Consider hanging one or more wreaths on your cabinets, on the back of chairs, or barstools.
I also made a swag and hung it on the mirror in the eat-in kitchen!
2) Make a vignette with cutting boards
Save room on your counter by sitting cutting boards sideways against the backsplash.
I used two boards and put my bust planter in front of the larger one to keep it from tipping over!
To keep with the theme, I added fruit to the planter!
3)set out Christmas Dishes
Display your favorite Christmas dishes on the counter!
We use this adorable plate and cup to leave milk and cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve!
It’s so cute, it would be a shame to keep it under wraps until the big night!
4)Incorporate real fruit
Add fruit in a bowl or vignette for a cost-effective and beautiful arrangement on your counter.
We added oranges to this simple vignette.
5)Display a favorite cookbook
We have a seasonal cookbook that matches the colors of our milk and cookie dishes.
Don’t they look cute sitting next to each other?
6)Tuck a tree in the corner
We have a small Christmas tree that tucks nicely in the corner of the eating area.
It’s decorated with fruit and color-coordinated ribbon!
If you have room, consider doing this.
If not, consider adding a small tabletop tree to the table or counter.
7)Use a bowl for a centerpiece
I couldn’t wait to use this brown transferware bowl with a lid and tray!
It’s the newest addition to my collection of dishes.
I added evergreen picks, a candle, and small pieces of faux fruit!
8)incorporate candles
Add a little twinkle to your kitchen with candles!
I wrapped my candlesticks with an evergreen pick bent into a circle and pieces of faux fruit.
9)Decorate a dough bowl
Dough bowls come in all shapes and sizes and are perfect for kitchen counters or shelves!
This long skinny dough bowl fits perfectly on the shelf in the eat-in kitchen.
Evergreen pieces, ribbon, and fruit fill it beautifully.
10)Use a floral arrangement
Add a floral, or in this case, fruit, arrangement to your kitchen island.
It can be real or faux.
11)Decorate a tiered tray
We always have a tired tray in our coffee/beverage area!
It’s so fun to switch out seasonal decor in this sweet spot!
I ran out of faux fruit to add to the tray.
So, I shopped my house and stole the deer from my china cabinet Christmas village display!
And that’s it!
See how easy it is to add simple decor to make your kitchen look pretty!
