Is swimming pool season at an end where you live?
It’s still hot and humid here!
I don’t want time to pass by faster but I’m ready for summer to wind down so we can transition into cooler days!
I’ve had it with this heat, and it’s making it hard to get into the mood for fall!
But fall is my favorite season to decorate and I have so many ideas swirling in my brain and I can’t wait to share them with you!
But first, let’s rewind and take you through all the key moments and must-see content from August.
Whether you’ve been following along or are catching up now, there’s plenty to revisit and enjoy as we look back on a busy month.
WHAT WE DID BEHIND THE SCENES IN August
We have been working on a big home improvement project this month, which kept us inside our house and jam-packed most weekends.
We did manage to have a little fun here and there!
Yard sale fun
Summer is yard sale season and we can hit lots of sales in one place at Renningers in Mt Dora.
After we walked around the yard sales, we ventured indoors to the antique booths.
It was not a very big haul but I found a few treasures!
I’ve been looking for inexpensive framed art for over a year to do a Halloween DIY and finally found something that would work!
The metal reindeer reminded me of the viral Pottery Barn Christmas decor that was popular last year, so that’s a second DIY project I have planned.
Last, I purchased four brown transferware salad plates and can’t wait to use them on my Thanksgiving table!
Next, we drove to downtown Mt Dora and had lunch at our newest favorite restaurant called The Salted Fry!
It’s a gluten-free restaurant and they have the best french fries I’ve ever eaten!
They also carry one of our favorite ciders, Ciderboys Peach County, on tap!
Thrift store finds
I’ve been so busy I have not been hitting the thrift stores regularly, but I found a few items for future DIY projects.
I was excited to find two large wreath forms for the price of a small one!
Not sure what I’m going to do with the cone form yet but I plan to paint the sleigh.
The vase is going to be made over soon to hold fall stems!
EPCOT Food and Wine Festival
If you’re new to the blog, you might not know that we are Disney fanatics and enjoy attending the festivals at EPCOT.
The EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival started on August 29th and runs through November 23, 2024.
I was excited because they have several gluten-free options.
Unfortunately, about half of those contain dairy but I still ate lots of yummy food!
Our favorite booth of the night was Bramblewood Bites!
We enjoyed all three items we tasted from there!
Grilled Cider-Brined Pork Tenderloin with Fennel Apple Slaw and Apple Cider Gastrique.
Grilled Bison with Butternut Squash Purée, Roasted Mushrooms, and Huckleberry Gastrique.
Cast Iron-Roasted Brussel Sprouts and Root Vegetables, Dried Cranberries, Candied Pecans, and Maple Bourbon Glaze.

I would love to visit the gluten free restaurant, up north hasn’t caught on to the fact us gluten free folks like a bit of variety, other than gluten free pizza. Wish I lived closer to check it out. Can’t wait to see your project Donna that you have been working on. You have been busy, busy!
