We’re from Kentucky, so we want to wish all of our friends and family there a Happy Derby Day!
We’ll be watching the most exciting two minutes of sports on TV!
April went by in a flash!
Here’s a rewind of what happened!
What We Did Behind the Scenes in April
Friends Came To Visit During Spring Break
Ah Spring break, that wonderful time when friends and family visit Florida!
Rich and I look forward to having company this time of year!
We were so happy to host two of my high school/college best friends and their husbands!
It was a fabulous week full of fun and we had great weather except for one day when it rained all afternoon!
So we decided to do a “monorail crawl” around the Disney Resorts next to Magic Kingdom!
We rode the monorail and toured the three deluxe hotels on the property!
Our adventure started at The Contemporary Resort with lunch at Steakhouse 71. The atmosphere was great but we had mixed reviews on the food!
Next stop, a little shopping at The Grand Floridian! It is such a gorgeous resort!
Last stop, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort where we had drinks and appetizers at Trader Sam’s Bar! This unique spot is tucked away and has a long wait but is tons of fun!
Then, we drove to Animal Kingdom Lodge for Zebra Domes (my favorite dessert)!
On another day we visited Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and then spent time on the beach at Canaveral National Seashore.
We also relaxed around the pool, played cards, shopped, ate lunch in Mount Dora, and enjoyed each other’s company!
It was a wonderful week but our time together went by way too fast!
Flower and Garden Festival
Spring brings our favorite festival to EPCOT!
We love to visit the International Flower and Garden Festival and go as often as we can!
It’s one of our favorite places to walk!
We enjoy amazing topiaries and endless flowers that fill the entire park!
We eat yummy food that not only tastes fabulous but looks amazing too!
One garden is prettier than the next!
Here’s a new topiary they added this year! So cute!
New Weekend Routine
The weather has been glorious lately but temps in the 90’s will start appearing soon!
That means we plan our outdoor time in the mornings and evenings and stay inside during the hottest part of the day!
Here’s how we’re changing things up on our weekends!
Friday date nights at Disney!
Instead of spending most of the day on Saturday or Sunday at a park, we started going on Friday nights!
The parks are cooler and quieter in the evenings!
If you’re new here, you may not know that I have an autoimmune disorder and try to eat gluten and dairy-free! One of our sons has celiac disease and another one is allergic to dairy and tree nuts!
Eating out can be a huge challenge, but Disney World knows how to help people like us!
Every restaurant has allergy-friendly and yummy options!
We eat dinner, ride a few rides, and get our steps in walking!
Saturday is filled with yard work and DIY projects!
We go out every Saturday morning to work in our yard, spring clean, and tidy up our outdoor spaces!
Around noon, we head inside for lunch and then hit the pool as a reward for our hard work!
Then, we tackle any DIY projects that need to be done on the weekend!
Sunday is focused on the Sabbath!
We attend church on Sunday morning and then eat lunch and run errands.
When you work from home it’s so easy to work non-stop, seven days a week, but we are trying to relax and slow down on this day!
It’s hard, especially knowing I might not meet my monthly goals, but our health is more important!
So we are making ourselves rest on Sunday!

Beautiful pictures of the flower and garden show. Only one day if rain when your friends visited isn’t bad. You had a great day rain and all. I hope you have a relaxing Sunday.
Donna Allen says
Thanks so much Cindy! I cherish the time I get to spend with friends and family and we are enjoying Sundays and the much needed rest! I hope you have a wonderful week!
Cara says
I am so glad you were able to spend time with your friends who visited, I am sure that was a refreshing change of pace. I haven’t been to Disney World in so long, we used to visit every other year when I was growing up, things have changed so much over the years. I am glad Disney has gluten free options now. I find up this way, pizza is about all that is really gluten free in my area, and that gets old quickly so we eat at home a lot. You have so many lovely pictures of the gardens, they are all so inspiring Donna. Have a wonderful week!
Donna Allen says
Hi Cara! It is such a blessing living someplace that has restaurants that address food allergies appropriately! It’s crazy how food that should be good for you can cause such problems for some people. If you ever come to Disney World let me know! I could help you plan your trip and even meet you there! That would be so fun! Take care!
CoCo says
Such a fun way to celebrate the season, Donna! I love that you guys host so many friends and family members throughout the year. But most especially, when the flowers in Florida are in full bloom. It’s so nice to be able to go to a place like Disney and not have to worry about finding something that you can eat. Love that you’re making the weekends more intentional. We started Sacred Sundays several years ago and it was a total game changer. Can’t wait to see what May has in store for you too. Hugs, CoCo
Donna Allen says
Thank you CoCo! I appreciate your friendship so much! I think taking Sundays off for rest is going to help tremendously! Glad to hear that was the case for you!! Hugs to you!
