We hope you will get to celebrate and enjoy the holiday in big or small ways!
Many people in the south are dealing with the devastating effects of Hurricane Idalia and we hope you will keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
What we’ve been up to this week
We stayed close to home!
Dealing with our second hurricane
We’ve lived in Florida for three years and are still learning about hurricanes!
We knew this one wouldn’t affect us as much as Ian did, so we didn’t need to remove everything from our lanai and front porch this time.
However, we did put away breakable decor items, pushed the plants against the house, and took down our swing and hanging lights.
Fortunately, it wasn’t necessary because we only got rain and slight winds.
We believe it’s better to be safe than sorry and would rather be over-prepared!
Preparing for an exciting DIY
Our only outing for the week was to Lowes!
You might not think that’s very exciting, but I do because we’re starting a DIY I’ve wanted to do since we moved into this house!
The only hint I’ll give this week is that it’s happening in the dining room.
Any ideas on what you think it might be??
What we’ve been doing on the blog
DIY vases from recycled jars
First, we took these plain bottles and turned them into beautiful vases!
Please take a minute to see these gorgeous twine-wrapped vases filled with dried flowers and wheat!
It’s hard to believe how pretty they look now!
Home decor DIY
Here is my childhood dresser!
It resides in our guest room and needed major sprucing up!
You have to hop over and see how we gave it a new grown-up look with a damask stencil!
It always amazes us how paint and a stencil can completely transform a piece of furniture!
