I love to incorporate a Christmas village into my holiday decor!
If you don’t have one, I have some great news…
You can make one!
And it costs a lot less than buying one from a store!
You can get all the details here!
Now, let’s talk tips on how to display your Christmas village!
How to style a Christmas village
I have seven easy tips to help you style a fabulous-looking Christmas village!
Let’s decorate!
1) Start with a clean slate
Remove everything from your china cabinet or whatever space you are using.
Sit everything on your table and place similar items near each other.
2) Place houses on shelves
Decide which homes will go on each shelf.
Vary the height of each house on each shelf.
3) Elevate small houses
Put your smaller houses on a stack of plates, books, or
A cake plate to add interest to your display!
4) Tuck dishes between houses
Replace your dishes in the cabinet and tuck them in between the houses.
5) incorporate bottle brush trees
Bottlebrush trees look perfect when placed around the houses.
They add texture and help fill in dead space between the dishes and houses.
6) embellish with wood figurines
I found these cute nutcrackers at the Target dollar spot!
They had snowmen too!
7) Add deer
A few weeks later, I found these white deer there too!
Thank you, Target dollar spot, for knowing what I needed for my Christmas village display!
DIY Updates to the Christmas Village
I thought you might enjoy seeing how my Christmas village has evolved over the last three years.
2020
We started with three paper mache houses. I painted them white and added gold glitter to the roofs.
Then, I added some white ceramic houses and displayed them in my china cabinet.
Did you notice my china cabinet is still brown?
2021
The following year, I purchased two more sets of paper mache houses and painted them to match.
I displayed the village on bookshelves in my living room.
I embellished the houses with DIY wreaths and trees made from pinecones. You can see the DIY project here.
2022
This year I decided to display my village in the china cabinet.
The theme for my dining room Christmas decor is “Tis the season to sparkle.”
So, I added a little sparkle to the houses by replacing the pine cone pieces with gold tinsel!
I used gold pipe cleaners to make wreaths and tinsel to adorn the doors and windows.
Next, I spray-painted the nutcrackers gold and the snowmen white.
The gold bottlebrush trees are new. I purchased them from Walmart.
Now that you know my seven easy tips to style an amazing Christmas village are you ready to decorate?
Let me know in the comments below, I can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
