Why set seasonal home organization goals
The thought of organizing an entire house in one year can seem overwhelming!
To make the task manageable, I set seasonal goals.
I organize a different “zone” of my home each season of the year.
While I’m at it, I try to make improvements to the decor and tackle DIY projects to help me stay within my budget.
Decide what to organize each season
As I was saying, I have broken my home down into four different zones.
I consider a zone to be a group of rooms that have similar functions.
For instance, I just spent the Summer organizing the “Personal Living Zone” of our home.
Now I’m getting ready to organize the “Entertaining Zone.”
This is how I break down zones:
Entertaining zone
Main rooms a guest would frequent when coming to your home. Entryway, living room, dining room, family/playroom, guest room.
Working zone
These are the rooms that I work in on a regular basis-the office, kitchen, and laundry room. The kitchen is a big job, so I separate it from the pantry. I do the same in my office by making the paperwork a separate area as well.
Outdoor zone
This includes all outdoor spaces of your home. Garage (shed), Porch (patio, deck), Storage (attic/unfinished basement), Cars (camper/boat), Yard.
Personal living zone
These are the rooms that are personal to each individual who lives in your home. Master bedroom, additional bedrooms, closets (bedroom, linen, cleaning), master bathroom, additional bathrooms.
HOW TO SET FALL HOME ORGANIZATION GOALS
sign up for free printables
Sign up to receive our emails and as a gift, you will receive access to our free printable library. The printables instruct you on how to organize every room of your home. You simply print them out and put them in a binder!
Make a home organization binder
- Gather or purchase a one-inch, three-ring binder.
2. Print the cover sheet pictured above for the front of your binder.
3. Print the seasonal home organization goal sheet. I would love for you to follow along with me, working at the same time. If that’s your plan, print the sheet pictured above!
However, my schedule may not work for you. Maybe you need to organize your bathroom right now. No problem, I have a blank goal sheet as well. You can personalize it to manage your home in the order that works best for you. Print the sheet pictured above if you want to set different seasonal organization goals than me.
4. Print the Fall home organization weekly goals printable. Decide what you will organize each week and write it on the goal sheet! If you don’t get it on the schedule you’ll keep procrastinating!
5. Print the strategy sheets to organize and personalize each room you will work on. For example, if you want to organize your entryway, print the corresponding sheets, pictured above, and fill them out!
6. Start organizing!

if the Fall challenge seems overwhelming
If organizing five spaces during Fall seems overwhelming, set a goal to organize one room.
Likewise, if organizing an entire room seems overwhelming, plan to start with one area like a drawer or a cabinet.
Once you have successfully organized one thing, you’ll build up the confidence to do something larger the next time!
Scroll through past organization posts on the blog and see which one speaks to you.
Start small, and before you know it, your entire house will be organized!!
Now that you know how to set Fall home organization goals, I hope you will use this weekend to put your organizing binder together.
If you have any questions, let me know in the comments!
