Decide what to organize this spring
I have a goal to organize my entire house in one year! I know that’s a huge goal. Fortunately, I have a plan to break down this monumental task into manageable steps. I will accomplish my goal by organizing a different zone of my home each season. First, I spent the Winter organizing my “Working Zone”. Next, I plan to organize the “Outdoor Zone” this Spring.
Outdoor Zone
Yes, I organize outdoor spaces too! Areas like the garage (shed), porch (patio, deck), storage (attic/unfinished basement), cars (camper/boat), and yard need to be organized. Spring temperatures provide the perfect work environment to tackle the garage, attic, or basement. With the pandemic still hanging around, it’s important to have a porch that feels just as comfortable as your indoor spaces. I know you’re ready to get out of the house after a long Winter! Spring is also a great time to organize your car in preparation for the travel season. Many people consider Spring a time of renewal and are excited to get outside and prepare their yards for warm weather enjoyment. As you can see, there is a lot to accomplish in Spring!
Put your spring goals in writing
This Spring, I will organize my outdoor zone. This zone includes the porch, garage, cars, yard, and storage space. What do you plan to organize this Spring? If you want to accomplish your goal, you must write it down. Then decide when you are going to do the actual work! I have made some wonderful printable goal sheets to help you out!
Fill out the seasonal goal sheet
Below is my seasonal home organization goal sheet.
I would love for you to follow along with me, working at the same time. However, this schedule may not work for you. Maybe you really need to organize your bathroom right now. No problem, I have a blank goal sheet that you can personalize to organize your home in the order that works best for you.
Here is a picture of the blank goal sheet.
Schedule time to organize
If you don’t schedule a time to organize, you will never meet your spring home organization goals. Decide what you are going to organize each week. You could schedule one afternoon, a whole day, or a whole weekend to work on it. Write it on the Spring home organization goal sheet. There is an extra square for you to make notes.
Simple steps to help you reach your goal
- Sign up to receive our weekly emails. You’re going to need guidance and encouragement to get the job done. Each week we’ll send you tips for organizing, decorating, or a DIY project we did to beautify and/or make our space more functional. As a gift for signing up, you will receive access to our free printable library, giving you instructions to organize every room of your home.
- Make a home organization binder:
- Gather or purchase a one-inch, three-ring binder.
- Print the cover sheet for the front of your binder.
- Print the seasonal home organization goal sheet. Choose the empty sheet if you want to organize different areas than me. Choose the sheet that’s already filled out if you plan to organize rooms at the same time I do.
- Print the Spring home organization printable for each area you are going to organize. If you are organizing a different space, print the sheet that corresponds to that space.
- Print the spring goal sheet and schedule time to organize.
- Start organizing!
how to stay motivated through out Spring
Most people get very excited about making new goals, only to be disappointed at the end of the season. I encourage you to implement the strategies below, which will give you a greater chance of meeting your Spring home organization goals!
- Choose an accountability partner. You will be more likely to succeed if you have someone holding you accountable to follow through on your goals. Contact a friend or a relative to join you on this journey! I’m sure you know at least one person who would be willing to join you!
- Subscribe to our weekly email. Each week you will see what I’m working on, which will give you inspiration and ideas on how to organize your home. You can ask questions or leave comments about your experiences. I don’t have all the answers and you may have a suggestion that can help someone else!
- Share your progress on social media. Follow us on Facebook and/or Instagram. I would love to see pictures of your organized spaces! We can all help motivate each other!
If you feel overwhelmed
If you are new to organizing, setting a three-month goal may seem out of your reach. I suggest you make a goal to organize one room. If organizing an entire room seems overwhelming, plan to start with one area, like a drawer or a cabinet. Once you have successfully organized one space, you’ll gain the confidence to do something larger! Not sure where to start? Scroll through organization posts on the blog to see what interests you. Start small, and before you know it, your entire house will be organized!! Here are my organization goals for the rest of the year!
Goals for Each season
summer – PERSONAL LIVING zone
This zone includes rooms that are personal to each individual that lives in your home. It includes the Master bedroom, additional bedrooms, closets (bedroom, linen, and cleaning), Master bathroom, and additional bathrooms. Each room should be organized and personalized to meet the needs of the family member that uses it. I tackle this zone in the summer. Here’s an example of my organized bathroom closet.
Fall – ENTERTAINING zone
The entertaining zone includes the main rooms a guest would frequent when coming to your home. Entryway, Living room, dining room, family/playroom, guest room. I organize this zone in the Fall, just in time for holiday entertaining! Below is my organized china cabinet ready for Fall. Too bad no one got to see it in person, thanks to Covid!
Winter – WORKING zone
This zone includes the rooms I work in regularly. I’m busy in the office, kitchen, and laundry room on most days. Organizing the kitchen is a big job, so I organize the pantry at a separate time. I also divide the tasks in my office and organize paperwork at different times as well. I organize this zone at the start of the new year. Everyone is usually excited to get a fresh start and make New Year’s goals!

Congrats! You’ve learned how to make Spring home organization goals! I hope you will put together a home organization binder, fill out the printable sheets, and start organizing soon! Welcome to Spring home organization, get excited!!!
Blessings, Donna and Rich
