Winter is the perfect season to add a touch of warmth and charm to your home, and the best part is you don’t need to be a decorating pro to create a cozy winter vibe! With these easy winter decorating ideas, you can transform your space into a welcoming winter retreat!
Last week, our Christmas decorations came down, and I added cozy touches so our house wouldn’t feel bare and cold!

The Christmas trees (all 5 of them) are down, the nativity set is safely stored, and the gingerbread ornaments, nutcrackers, and anything that looked “Christmassy” are packed away.
However, I left out our tabletop trees, bottlebrush trees, yarn cone trees, garlands, greenery pics, and a few reindeer.
Here is how I styled them to help make our living spaces cozy!
Helpful winter decorating ideas
Layer with textures
Layer faux fur items like rugs, throws, and pillows to make your space feel extra cozy!
I adore how the neutral tones and winter whites create a calming effect.
Layer blankets and pillows in baskets.
Use Garlands in Unique Ways
Make a DIY wreath by wrapping a garland around a wreath form, attach it with floral wire, and add a pretty bow!
Add candles to a tray and surround them with a garland.
Layer a garland and neutral silver dollar stems in a dough bowl.
Wrap a jingle bell and pinecone garland around a plain wreath to decorate it.
Create a centerpiece by filling a wood tray with a yarn cone tree and a garland.
Fill a sled with a garland.
Tuck a woodbead and pom pom garland around a set of bottlebrush and cone trees.
Decorate a dining table with a long garland.
This is a 9-foot garland that I folded in half to make the perfect base for a centerpiece. Then, I added pillar candles and some bottlebrush trees.
I used the same garland for the fireplace and draped it over the mantel!
Display Reindeer
We purchased these reindeer at a yard sale in August, and I transformed them into “Pottery Barn reindeer look-alikes” by spray-painting them black!
If you want to see what they looked like before, scroll down our Seasonal Sentiments August Rewind Newsletter.
I placed a few white deer on my pie shelf next to our DIY wooden trees, milk glass, and a brown transferware soup tureen.
Incorporate Greenery
Fill a DIY vase with greenery stems and tie a bow around it.
Fill a basket with greenery stems and layer it with pinecones and round decorative orbs.
Create a vignette with a cutting board, a tabletop tree, a DIY cinnamon candle, and a vase of pinecones.
Seasonal Art
Last but not least, we chose a seasonal art piece for our frame TV.
Conclusion
With just a few simple touches, you can bring the beauty and coziness of winter into your home.
Whether it’s a bowl of pinecones, a soft throw blanket, or the warm glow of candles, these easy decorating ideas prove that small changes can make a big impact.

Beautiful!!!! I have a frame tv also, but don’t seem to have access to that picture. Looks fantastic. Did you find it on the frame library? Thank you for all your inspirations!!

Thank you so much! No, it is not in the library. We purchased a neutral winter bundle on Etsy and it was included! Have a wonderful day!
