I love how cozy our home feels and how much cheer the twinkling lights on the trees provide.
After the decor is taken down, the house feels so empty!
We’re about to change that by adding Winter decor to the main rooms in our house.
We will focus on three themes, adding light, bringing the outdoors in, and incorporating cozy textiles!
Now let’s decorate for Winter!
Add a little light To Your Winter Home Decor
Is it dark and dreary where you live?
An easy way to make your home feel cozy is to add a little light with candles, lanterns, or strings of fairy lights.
Lanterns
Use a lantern and candle to create a vignette on your kitchen table.
I made this adorable light-up garland by adding lanterns I made for Christmas ornaments to a Dollar Tree wood bead garland.
Next, I moved this lantern that was on my living room table to the kitchen and placed it on the top of my pie shelves.
Cordless lamp
I added some much-needed light to the corner of our kitchen by making this simple cordless lamp!
Bring the outdoors inside with Winter Home Decor
Another easy way to decorate for Winter is to bring outdoor elements into the house!
We live in Florida, so it rarely feels like winter outside but I can still get that warm cozy feel inside!
Faux evergreens
After Christmas, I left out the evergreen trees and placed two of them on our TV console table.!
I left the evergreen and pinecone arrangements I made for the shelves in the living room.
I mainly used brown and white decor in this area!
You can also fill baskets with greenery, pinecones, and orbs!!
pine cones
If you’re new to the blog, you need to know I have tons of pinecones stored in my garage and have been using them to make home decor.
They are so easy and inexpensive to decorate with.
Add pinecones to a winter wreath!
Make a beautiful pinecone flower tree!
Embellish a birdhouse with pinecones!
I made these cute houses for my Christmas tree this year and decided to display them on the shelf in our eat-in kitchen.!
Layer pinecones on top of evergreen pieces in a wooden tray or bowl!
Use pinecone picks inside an urn or vase!
When I took these picks off of our woodland Christmas tree, I held them out to make these pretty arrangements to use in the foyer!
wood trees
If you have any wood Christmas trees, leave them out!
These DIY wooden Christmas trees are perfect to display the entire season!
incorporate woodland animals
Our middle son gave me these adorable deer for Christmas!
Aren’t they precious!
I have three white deer and I placed them around our living room.
Artwork with Winter scenery
We won’t get any snow outside but I can still enjoy this gorgeous view of snow on our frame TV!
Incorporate cozy Textiles into Winter Home Decor
The last, but not least idea, is to add a cozy feel with warm and snuggly textiles!
Cozy up with a Throw Blanket
This is my favorite throw blanket to use during winter!
It is so soft, warm, and cuddly!
Switch out Throw pillows
I moved the faux fur throw pillows from the chairs to the couch!
Then, I made these adorable DIY pom-pom pillow covers!
Repurpose a Tree collar into a basket
I saw someone on Instagram repurpose their tree collar by turning it upside down and using it as a basket!
It’s perfect for holding Winter throws and pillows!
Yarn Home Decor Items
It’s too warm here to wear sweaters made from yarn but that doesn’t mean I can’t incorporate it into my decor!
I used balls wrapped in yarn to fill this dough bowl!
I made the cute cone trees in this picture and the one below a couple of years ago!
They are so easy to make and work from Christmas through the whole Winter season!
I added my largest cone tree to the mantle along with two topiaries and two ceramic white houses!
I hope these ideas have inspired you to add some Winter decor to your home!
Wishing you warm and cozy vibes, no matter where you live!!
