The Summer Home Organization Challenge has begun, and I’m changing how I organize my makeup!
Current Makeup Organization
Currently, I’m using clear acrylic stackable containers to organize my makeup!
This option is perfect for storing products on a bathroom counter or underneath the bathroom sink.
However, I have a drawer that I want to utilize for my makeup so I’ll be changing things up!
Here’s what the drawer looks like now.
It’s organized well but I’m storing items I don’t use every day.
I want to bring the products I use daily and have them in an easy-to-reach space!
It will make getting ready in the morning so much more efficient!
Let me show you how a little organization can make a big difference in your beauty regimen!
Easy Steps to Declutter Your Makeup
Follow these easy steps, to create a tidy space that saves you time and enhances your beauty routine.
1. Gather All Your Makeup
Collect all makeup and skin care products from various places in your home and lay everything out to get a clear view of what you have.
2. Declutter
Evaluate each product’s condition and how often you use it.
Discard expired products to maintain hygiene and safety.
Remove products you rarely or no longer use.
3. Categorize
Group the remaining items into categories: face, eyes, lips, tools, etc. and separate everyday essentials from special occasion items.
Clean
Decide where you are going to store your makeup and clean it well.
I’m moving my makeup into this drawer.
If you are using a drawer consider adding a shelf liner.
Invest in Storage Solutions
Measure the space you want to use before purchasing an organization system.
The height of my drawer is under two inches so I had to search for an organizer that would fit.
I was fortunate to find these trays with adjustable dividers that fit perfectly.
How to organize your makeup
First, I’ll share how I organize my makeup and then give you more ideas in case the way I organize doesn’t work for you!
Tips To Arrange Your Makeup in a Drawer
Play around with your containers until you find a configuration that works for all your items.
These trays have dividers so you can make each section the exact length you need!
I’m thrilled with them!
I placed the skincare and makeup items on the left side of the drawer.
I have a few other items I use daily and wanted to be in easy reach.
Toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, and hair scrunchies are stored on the right side of the drawer.
I’m so excited to have everything I need daily in an easy-to-reach drawer!
No more moving the acrylic containers in and out of the cabinet.
Store Makeup brushes in a container
Since I chose to put other items besides makeup in the drawer, I didn’t have room for my makeup brushes.
Instead, I stored them in a glass on the countertop.
I think they look pretty next to the other two glass canisters!
Other options for organizing makeup
I have more suggestions if you don’t have a drawer to store your makeup!
- Invest in a stacking acrylic organizer
- Use a tiered tray on the counter
- Hang a clear shoe bag on the back of the bathroom door
- Store makeup on a rolling cart
- Tuck a lazy Susan under the bathroom sink
- Install floating shelves to hold your makeup
Tips to Maintain Your Organization
- You took time to find a place to store your makeup so always put each item back in its designated spot.
- Annually check and tidy your makeup collection and tweak your organization system if necessary.
- Be mindful when purchasing makeup and be sure you have a place to store it before you buy it.
Conclusion
As you can see, organizing your makeup doesn’t have to be a chore.
An organized collection allows you to easily find and enjoy your favorite products, making your daily routine more efficient and enjoyable.
We hope you’ll embrace the process, and enjoy the benefits of a clutter-free, beautifully organized makeup collection!

There’s nothing like cleaning out stuff you no longer use and get it tidy.
I have to have organization.
Now if I can keep my craft/office from becoming a nightmare before a new season.
Supplies are everywhere right now, lol

Hi Cindy! My office is the hardest place for me to stay organized too! I always have some sort of mess from projects I’m working on! Thanks for stopping by!

Great idea using storage containers that have dividers Donna. I am using the acrylic storage containers for my make-up now, but I also have a shallow drawer like you have here. I never thought to put my make-up in it though. I love options though. I wish I was as organized as you are, I am working on it. 😉

Thanks, Cara! I am loving this set-up! It’s so much easier to get ready ion the morning with the items I use daily being in the same place! It has taken me years to get to where I am now with organization so just keep tackling little projects as you can!

Lucky you to have that large drawer! Mine are deep and narrow. Thanks for the reminder to routinely toss old make up. Sometimes when I do that it is amazing how much easier it is to see what I actually have. Visiting from Turn Around Tuesday #57, 58

Hello Linda! Yes, I am very fortunate to have that drawer. Only regret is that I would have organized it like this sooner because it’s so functional! Thanks for stopping by!!
