I have them all over the house (see our Spring home tour here) and they look fabulous, but it occurred to me that I don’t have any decor that symbolizes the real meaning of Easter.
So, I decided to add a Christ-centered Easter centerpiece for my dining room table this Spring.
The idea was sparked as I browsed the aisles of our local thrift store, and I came across a beautiful brown cross.
I purchased the cross on the left, and the next week, while thrifting, I bought the cross on the right and the Fleur di Lis.
Then, the hunt was on for one more cross!
Unfortunately, it took several months, but I finally discovered one just in time for Spring!

You can follow these easy steps to decorate your table in any theme you desire!
Simple Easter Table Decor Ideas
Easter tables do not have to be elaborate or expensive to look beautiful!
This year my table is very simplistic and I used items I bought at the thrift store to make my centerpiece and to decorate the dining room!
With a bit of creativity, you can set a table to make your Easter celebration special!
Let’s get started!
Choose a theme
Start by choosing a theme, color, or inspiration piece.
This year we are focusing on the resurrection of Jesus and using three crosses which symbolize his death by crucifixion.
You can do the same or develop your table around bunnies, eggs, birds, or nests!
Will you use pastels, neutrals, or bold pops of color?
The possibilities are endless!
Create a centerpiece
Shop your house or a local thrift store to find inspiration for your centerpiece!
If you love flowers, make a centerpiece from inexpensive grocery store flowers!
It doesn’t have to be expensive to look beautiful!
I’m going to use paint to tweak my items and make them look more cohesive!
I wanted the center cross to be taller, so Rich cut two pieces of wood for the base and I painted them to match!
I didn’t care for the shiny red mosaic pieces in the center cross, so I painted over it with gray paint to dull it.
The brown cross on the right looked too dark, so I wiped it with Rub-n-Buff in Antique Gold over the raised edges to bring out the detail.
Then, I sat the crosses on a framed 9″ x 21″ picture I bought at the thrift store for a couple of dollars!
Next, I added different colors of reindeer moss to cover the picture, and now I have a gorgeous centerpiece!
Choose a foundation
Now that you have a theme and a centerpiece, let’s start decorating the table with a good foundation!
First, choose a tablecloth, table runner, or placemats!
I chose ruffled burlap placemats and layered them with my DIY moss and twig charger plates.
The twigs on the outside edge of the chargers remind me of the crown of thorns the Roman soldiers placed on Jesus’ head.
Decide On Dishes
Will you use your best china, everyday dishes, or decorative paper plates?
Choose what works for you and your family!
When I used to host our extended family in Kentucky, I always used paper products because I did not want to wash all of those dishes!
This year it will just be three of us, so I decided to use my good china!
Complete the Place setting
Complete your place setting by adding glasses and eating utensils.
Since my china has a gold rim, I’m using glasses and utensils with gold embellishments to match.
Finish With Napkins
Use napkins to add a special touch to your setting!
Whether you use cloth or paper napkins, consider using or making a napkin ring or holder to continue your theme!
I used Easter stamps, cardstock, and ribbon to make a napkin holder.
One side is stamped with “He is risen,” and the other has a cross.
Add Spring touches to the Dining Room
Once your table is decorated consider adding some Spring touches to the rest of the dining room.
Florals
At first, I thought I would add flowers to the tablescape but they competed with the decorative crosses.
So instead, I added them around the room!
Spring blooms bursting from tree branches are a welcome sight in Spring, and I thought they looked gorgeous on the mantel.
Another flower that reminds me of Spring is tulips, so I placed them on the bar cart next to a majestic swan and candy dish, that matches our china.
Oh yes, I almost forgot, the swan is a thrifted find too!
Candles
I love to use candles when decorating tables, but this year I opted to use these elegant mercury glass candleholders on the mantel instead.
Decor Items
To balance the candlesticks on the left, I added the mercury glass bottles to the right side of the mantel!
I bought the set of bottles from the thrift store as well!
In conclusion
I am so excited about my simple but beautiful Easter table!
It was fun shopping thrift stores to find the crosses and other items I used in the dining room!
I hope this has inspired you to set a special table for your holiday celebration!

You table looks great Donna! I love the three crosses front and center on your table. The reindeer moss is the perfect touch for a bit of color. I love seeing moss in decor this year. Great idea raising the center cross up with simple wood pieces. The place cards are a nice touch, I just recently found stamping to be a fun project for me. Simple, yet elegant. Hope you have a wonderful Easter this year.
