Are you looking for a fun Valentine’s craft? Look no further, my friends, because I have a DIY that anyone can do! My cute Valentine’s hearts are easy to make and the perfect way to decorate for this special day!
A few weeks ago, my friend Kim, from Perfecting Places, shared the cutest wrapped yarn hearts I’ve ever seen. If you have a moment, hop over to her blog and take a look at them.

One of her hearts was made from a thick pink yarn and looked super fluffy!
It immediately reminded me of the heart I made last year out of Teddy Bear yarn!
Here’s the link to my Valentin’es heart if you’d like to know how to make it!
I had about one-third of the yarn left over from that project, and my mind started to think about how I could make some cute hearts with it!
Want to see what I came up with??
Aren’t they adorable?
I didn’t have enough yarn to wrap the hearts, so I decided to add pretty scrapbook paper to one side!
I’m so glad I did because now I have two completely different looks!
I’m not sure which side I like better, they’re both so cute!
The yarn side looks so warm and snuggly and fun!
But I love how the yarn peeks out around the edges of the paper side!
They’re both so cute and do you want to know the best thing about them?
They are super easy to make!
Here are all the details!
Gather
Gather the following items to make these cute hearts:
- Cardboard
- Teddy Bear Yarn- Hobby Lobby
- One 12 x 12 piece of scrapbook paper
- School Glue stick
- Hot glue gun & glue sticks (if you don’t have one try regular glue in a bottle)
- Silicone finger protectors
- Scissors
- Ribbon -1/8 inch organza
- Pencil
- Ruler
Make hearts
Find a heart shape you like. You can use a stencil, a cookie cutter, or draw one yourself.
Draw six hearts on a piece of cardboard.
Then, do the same with your scrapbook paper (don’t forget to draw on the blank side).
Cut out the hearts.
Prepare ribbon
Lay your ribbon on a ruler and measure five inches.
Cut the ribbon and make five more pieces.
Attach the ribbon to the cardboard heart with hot glue.
To keep from burning yourself, use silicone finger protectors!
Substitute bottle glue when you do this project with young kids or don’t have a glue gun.
Adhere paper heart
Take Elmer’s glue stick and cover the back of the scrapbook paper heart (I like to use glue in the stick form because it won’t cause the paper to bubble up.)
Attach the heart to the cardboard.
Adhere yarn
Now glue the Teddy Bear yarn to the opposite side of the cardboard heart.
Sorry, I got distracted during this part and forgot to take a picture!
Start on the outside edge of the heart, and run a line of hot glue down one side.
Then, push the yarn into the glue using the silicone finger protectors.
Continue around the heart until you reach the center!
Style your cute Valentine’s hearts
There are so many ways you can style these adorable hearts!
Here are three of my favorites!
Hang them on branches
Put some branches in a vase or pitcher, and hang your hearts up!
If you don’t have faux branches go out in your yard and cut a branch off a tree!
Make a wood bead GARLAND
I bought some wood bead garlands from The Dollar Tree several months ago and never used them.
So I pulled one out and added the hearts to it!
It doesn’t get any easier, my friends!!
Oh, wait, yes it does!
Hang them on a wreath
This wreath is hanging over my stove, it took me one minute to attach the hearts to it!!
Don’t they look fabulous on this wreath!
Can you think of other ways to use these cute and oh-so-easy-to-make Valentine’s hearts?

These hearts are so cute, Donna! I love how you used them as ornaments, to add a pop of color to your wreath and to create a garland as well. Adding the scrapbook paper on the back was totally genius! They have such a beautiful vintage vibe. Loving and pinning as always sweet friend, CoCo
