Why Use a Recycled Jar to Create a DIY Vase?
Here at An Organized Season, we love to create beautiful home decor on a budget!
Did you know recycling glass jars is an easy and cost-effective way to create home decor?
Not only does it help the environment, but it also saves you lots of money!
Let’s do something with them instead of throwing out your jars or putting them in the recycle bin.
Today, we will make not one but three twine-wrapped vases!
Aren’t they gorgeous?
Let’s start crafting!
Steps to Create a DIY Vase
Gather
Gather or purchase the following items to complete this project:
- Glass jar
- Jute twine
- Half wooden beads
- Hot glue gun & glue sticks
- Silicone finger protectors
- Scissors
- Dried florals
Prep
The first step is to find and prepare your jars.
I chose a large pickle jar, a jelly jar, and a barbecue sauce jar.
When they were empty, I removed the stickers and put them in the dishwasher.
If yours still has a sticky residue, use Goo Gone to remove it from them.
Cover Jars with Twine
Now it’s time to make your recycled jars look like a vase.
First, you’ll want to hide the top where the lid screws on and any writing on the jar.
That’s where the twine comes in.
Very carefully, add hot glue around one-half of the jar lid.
Use a silicone finger protector and press the twine into the hot glue so you don’t burn yourself.
Continue until the area is covered in the twine.
Add wood beads
The large pickle jar looked too plain, so I added half-wood beads for more interest!
Add hot glue to the back of the bead and hold it in place until it dries.
Add florals to the vase
I chose neutral-dried items and wooden flowers.
Arrange the florals in your vase.

I love upcycling items around our home, and this one fits the bill Donna! I love it, and the items you chose to display inside your vases are all so perfect. The wood beads are a nice touch to your vases. Love this one, saving it!

Hi Cara! I love this one too! I can’t get over the fact they were bottles I bought from the grocery and now they’re so pretty! Thanks!

Such a clever idea, Donna!! I love the way that those 3 jars look when styled together. The beads were such a pretty addition, as well!

Great job Donna! I love giving regular household items (aka trash) a new lease on life. This is perfection and I love how you styled them. You can dress them up differently thru the seasons! Pinned- thanks for the inspiration friend. XO- MaryJo

Great project. I am always trying to find ways to upcycle all of the glass bottles and jars we end up with. I like how you styled these. This post will be a feature this week. #HomeMattersParty

Hello Donna! That’s so exciting! Thank you for the feature! It feels great to keep them out of the recycle bin! I’ll see you at the party!
