We prepare most of our meals at home and enjoy baking Christmas cookies together as a family!
So, our priority is function, but since we spend a lot of time here, and the kitchen is open to our living room, we love to decorate it for Christmas!
And we’re excited to share our best ideas with you!
No matter the size of your kitchen, you can add a few festive touches to make it feel special and welcoming for the holiday season.
Best Gingerbread Christmas Kitchen Decor Ideas
We invite you to incorporate one or all of these ideas into your Christmas kitchen decor!
I did several gingerbread DIY projects in the kitchen, and I’ll be sharing those later this week!
Let’s decorate!
Pick a theme
I love to pick a theme for the rooms I decorate for Christmas, and the kitchen is no exception!
If you don’t have a theme you want to use, then pick a color scheme so your room looks cohesive.
Our theme for the kitchen this year is “Gingerbread Delight!”
Other classic holiday themes include candy canes, holly, snowflakes, or fruit.
I collected gingerbread houses and figures over the last few years!
And each Christmas, the boys and I decorate gingerbread houses.
We now have enough pieces to make a little village on the shelf!
Display a sign
I found this adorable sign at Hobby Lobby and hung it above my stove!
Then I made an evergreen spray and the cute neutral bow!
Look closely because one of the ribbons has gingerbread houses on it!
Keep an eye out because you’ll see these ribbons again!
DIY Gingerbread Houses
I made these adorable Gingerbread houses to decorate the shelf in our eat-in kitchen!
I had the cake plate in the center and thrifted the two on the ends!
Hang a wreath
Next, I made this sweet gingerbread house wreath to match!
Create a centerpiece
We will have many conversations around this table, and I wanted a simple centerpiece we could see over.
I thrifted the urn, put a few faux evergreen stems inside, and topped it off with two gingerbread cookie cutters!
Set The Table
I discovered these cute gingerbread plates in the Target Dollar Spot!
Next, I tied the napkin with a thin gingerbread ribbon.
It’s a super simple table, but cute!
Put up a Christmas Tree
If you have room, put up a small Christmas tree!
I decorated the tree with two types of ribbon, ornaments made from Dollar Tree gingerbread men, and small cookie cutters.
For the topper, I made another bow like the one on the sign above my stove and added some white sequin picks behind a gingerbread man.
Fill apothecary jars
I always look for apothecary jars when I’m thrifting.
I purchased the one in the middle at a local thrift store and found the other two at a yard sale last summer.
They are so fun to decorate with, and I couldn’t wait to fill them with holiday treats!
First, I added evergreen stems to a basket and then nestled the jars between them.
Then, I added gingerbread cookies, peppermints, and peppermint truffles inside the jars!
I finished by scattering a few pinecones around the tray!
The tray can be picked up and moved if you need more counter space!
Decorate your cabinets
Last year after Christmas, I purchased the small wreaths on clearance!
I hung them with the same ribbon on the tree and gingerbread house wreath.
I only bought six wreaths but had more than six cabinets.
So, rather than buy more, I added cookie cutters to the cabinet doors above the oven, coffee maker, and refrigerator.
They are not very wide, and I had to use a slimmer ribbon to hang them.
We don’t use the cabinets over the stove since a vent runs through it, so I made a cute gingerbread garland to hang there!
Place Evergreens in Vases
One of the simplest ways to add Christmas decor in the kitchen is to display evergreen stems in vases.
I created a vignette from a cutting board and added cooking essentials, a bottlebrush tree, and a wood vase filled with greenery and pinecones.
I found this beautiful vase on a visit to Renninger’s Antique and Collectors Extravaganza!
The cute little tree fits perfectly inside!
Here’s another vignette with a thrifted urn, a bottlebrush tree, and a DIY cinnamon candle on a round cutting board!
The candle is tied with the ribbon I used to make the gingerbread garland and tie the napkins together.
Have fun With a Tiered Tray
Tiered trays are functional and look great with decor tucked in here and there.
I added a gingerbread wood house set from the Target Dollar Spot.
The Santa mugs were purchased at Target last year.
The decorative towels are from Hobby Lobby.
Show off Christmas Dishes
If you have sentimental Christmas dishes, like this plate and mug, display them for all to see!
Invest In Matching Soap Dispensers
A great way to make functional items look pretty is to put them into a decorative bottle set.
