We set goals to organize and spruce up the areas of our home that our guests will see.
If you are new to the blog, we organize a different zone of our home every season of the year!
Here’s how it works!
ORGANIZE BY THE SEASON
Here are the zones of our home:
- Entertaining Zone (Fall): The main rooms a guest would frequent when coming to our home: entryway, living room, dining room, family/playroom, and guest bedroom and bathroom.
- Working Zone (Winter): These are the rooms we work in on a regular basis: the office, kitchen, and laundry room. The kitchen is a big job, so we separate it from the pantry. We do the same in my office by organizing the paper clutter and craft supplies on different days.
- Outdoor Zone (Spring): All outdoor spaces of our home: garage (shed), porch (patio, deck), attic (unfinished basement), cars (camper, boat), and yard.
- Personal Living Zone (Summer): These rooms are personal to each individual who lives in our home: master bedroom, additional bedrooms, closets (bedroom, linen, cleaning), master bathroom, and additional bathrooms.
Now that you know how our seasonal challenges work, let’s discuss what’s happening this season!
THE Fall HOME ORGANIZATION CHALLENGE
We are hosting several family members during the fall and Christmas seasons.
We’ll prepare by organizing the entryways, living room, and guest room.
When we organize the dining room, we’ll also give it a mini makeover!
As we get closer to Thanksgiving, we’ll put organizing rooms on hold and get organized for holiday celebrations instead!
Entryway
The entryway to our garage is where we store all of our pet supplies.
Sadly, we had to say goodbye to our 16-year-old dogs, Barkley and Gracey, this year!
It breaks my heart to remove their items from this entryway, but it needs to be done.
We don’t plan on getting any more pets, so we will donate everything we can!
It is going to be so hard to organize this area!
Living room
We’ve managed to keep our living room organized, but it needs to be deep cleaned before company comes!
Guest room
Our guest room is organized except for all the pillows we’ve been storing in the closet!
The other side of the closet is just as full!
Our guests barely have enough room to hang their clothes!
You never know what’s hiding behind closed doors, lol!!
We need a pillow purge!
Dining room
The dining room has stayed organized but needs a little refresh, so we plan to dress it up a bit!
Now you know our home organization and improvement goals for the fall season!
Are you wondering if we met all of our goals for Summer?
DID WE MEET OUR GOALS FOR THE PAST CHALLENGE?
Yes, we did, mostly!
We met all of our organizational goals for the summer challenge!
Here they are:
First, we shared 15 things to do to get organized for summer.
We showed you what to pack for an organized day at the beach.
Helped our son organize his bathroom.
Shared our 21 best closet organization ideas.
Developed a productive nighttime routine.
And last but not least, we tackled the nightstands in our bedroom!
Unfortunately, we did not meet our home improvement goal of painting the bathroom cabinet in the guest bathroom or painting all of the furniture in our guest bedroom.
However, we made a dent in the bedroom furniture by painting the dresser and the desk set.
We’ll add the bed and the bathroom cabinet back to our to-do list for next Summer!

WHAT WILL YOU ORGANIZE AND IMPROVE?
Now, you need to decide what space(s) to organize!
To follow our plan, print the sheet pictured above!
Print the empty sheet below if you want to organize different spaces from us!
If the thought of organizing an entire room is overwhelming, that’s okay!
Choose one item in a room to organize, like a china cabinet!
If it’s too much, choose to organize one drawer in the cabinet!
Set yourself up to win!
Once you’ve successfully organized one space, you’ll have the confidence to do something bigger the next time!
WHEN WILL YOU DO THE WORK?
If you want to meet your goal, look at your calendar and set aside time to do the work!
This printable will help you decide what to work on each week!

LOVE that you pick a zone to declutter and organize each season, Donna. It really helps to break things up and make maintaining systems so much easier. Plus, once the holidays arrive things are already done. It’s totally genius! Hugs, CoCo
