You can make that dream a reality by joining our Winter Challenge!
Let’s take this overwhelming task and break it down into small steps!
Some people have had success organizing their entire home during the Winter months!
If that works for you it’s fabulous!
Unfortunately, I’ve never been able to tackle my entire house in one season!
What did work for me was to spread out the tasks over the year and set goals for each season!
Let me show you what that looks like so you can organize your entire house this year!
ORGANIZE BY THE SEASON
We broke our home down into zones and assigned each zone to a season of the year!
Here are the zones of our home:
- Working Zone (Winter): The rooms we work in regularly: the office, kitchen, and laundry room. The kitchen is a big job, so we separate it from the pantry. We do the same in my office by organizing the paper clutter and craft supplies on different days.
- Outdoor Zone (Spring): All outdoor spaces of our home: garage (shed), porch (patio, deck), attic (unfinished basement), cars (camper, boat), and yard.
- Personal Living Zone (Summer): These rooms are personal to each individual who lives in our home: master bedroom, additional bedrooms, closets (bedroom, linen, cleaning), master bathroom, and additional bathrooms.
- Entertaining Zone (Fall): The main rooms a guest would frequent when coming to our home: entryway, living room, dining room, family/playroom, and guest bedroom and bathroom.
Now that you know how our seasonal challenges work, let’s discuss what’s happening this season!
THE Winter HOME ORGANIZATION CHALLENGE
Here are the goals we are setting for ourselves this season!
You can set the same goals or choose your own!
organization
Kitchen junk drawer
Please tell me we’re not the only people who have a junk drawer in their kitchen!
Fortunately. our junk drawer does not get too out of hand because we have drawer organizers in place.
Mainly we will be decluttering and reorganizing it!
Kitchen under sink cabinet
I have been putting items under my kitchen sink that I don’t use in the kitchen, can you relate?
I want to stop doing that and need to move things around.
The lazy Susan works great but I want to add some clear drawers to this area.
Kitchen pots and pans lid storage
These lid storage racks work great but they take up a lot of room.
We need this space for a large baking pan so I need to come up with a different way to store them.
Office paper and digital clutter
Every year, I clean out our paper files and say we should go completely digital.
That has not happened yet, but each year we do have less and less paper.
However, I’m tired of having paper receipts lying around the house, so we need to choose to have them emailed instead of printed!
Confession time, I do not delete emails regularly, and am embarrassed to tell you how many I have in my inbox!
I need to do a huge purge. and come up with a strategy to address this issue!
Laundry room pet station
We were supposed to tackle this project in the Fall and we didn’t get to it.
Keep reading below for more details about this!
DIY Home Improvement
Each season we try to do at least one home improvement project to turn our builder-grade home into a house we love!
This Winter we will focus on our kitchen!
We have lived in this house for over three years and do not have hardware on the cabinets!
So overdue on this project!
We also want to install pendant lights over the island!
If you look closely, you can see that our island is painted gray behind the stools.
We forgot about this space when we painted the kitchen walls white!
DID WE MEET OUR GOALS FOR THE PAST CHALLENGE?
We fell one project short of meeting our goal for the Fall Home Organization Challenge!
In 2023 we had to say goodbye to our 16-year-old Bichon Frise dogs, Barkely and Gracey.
I was hoping to re-organize their pet station in the laundry room for alternate use.
That didn’t happen, so I have to put it back on the list for our Winter Challenge.
We did meet the rest of our goals and they are listed below!
organization Goals we met
Our guest room closet was overflowing with throw pillows so we showed you how we organized and stored all of the pillows in our house!
To welcome Autumn, we organized a Fall Bucket List to remind us to enjoy the fun festivities that the season brings!
We shared our planner and best tips to make hosting Thanksgiving dinner easy!
Showed how we incorporate 25 Christmas Traditions to help make meaningful Christmas memories.
DIY Home Improvement Project
During the Fall, we tackled the dining room!
See our dining room makeover with a new rug, wood trim, and more!
We are so proud of our makeover and can’t wait to start a new project this winter!
So let’s start thinking about what we’re going to do this Winter!
