Did you know they can be as expensive as large ones?
Not only do I want a cheap, small lamp, but I want it to be cordless so I can use it on my kitchen shelf!
Since I couldn’t find what I wanted, I made it instead!
To keep costs down, I used items I purchased at a thrift store!

Check out the cutest miniature lamp you’ve ever seen!!
Isn’t it the best!!
You are not going to believe how easy this is to make!
Here are all the details!
Thrift Store Finds
You don’t have to buy items from a thrift store for this project, but you will save a lot of money if you do!
Plus, I love the thrill of finding items and transforming them into high-end-looking decor for our home!
Several months ago, I found this cute lampshade and candlestick at a local thrift store!
I thought they were perfect for this project!
I knew I would have to paint the candlestick holder, but I didn’t mind.
Then, on another thrifting adventure, I found this candlestick that matches my kitchen counter perfectly.
I will use it instead!
Since I don’t need to paint it, this project just turned into one of the fastest and easiest DIYs I’ve ever done!
Before we put this adorable lamp together, let’s talk about the pros and cons of using a cordless lamp!
Pros and Cons of Using a Cordless Lamp
The Pros
- Display a lamp anywhere- since you don’t need an outlet, this lamp can be placed anywhere in your house. Perfect for a kitchen or bathroom counter or any type of shelf. You can also incorporate it in a vignette!
- No hiding cords- say goodbye to hiding ugly cords.
- Handy if you lose electricity- If the lights go out, you have a backup ready and waiting!
The Cons
- Batteries don’t last- Eventually, batteries will have to be replaced. This can get expensive, so if you use your lamp a lot, consider investing in rechargeable batteries. They are better for the environment.
- The brightness of light- puck lights are more like a night light than a reading lamp. They are great for adding soft mood lighting to your room, but not so great for reading a recipe!
- Another remote control to keep track of- Puck lights are operated by a remote control, so you’ll have to keep track of it!
Easy Steps to Make a DIY Cordless Lamp
As I said earlier, this project might be the easiest DIY I have ever done!
Gather
Gather the following materials to make a DIY lamp:
- Lampshade- choose a small lampshade
- Base- choose a candlestick or vase
- Puck light- we ordered ours from Amazon
- Batteries- regular or rechargeable
Assemble
It only takes three easy steps to assemble this fabulous light!
Step one- Place batteries inside the puck light
Step two- Place the puck light inside the lampshade
Step three- Place the lampshade on top of the candlestick
That’s it, you’re done!
I wasn’t joking about this being a super easy project!!
Now, let’s make a pretty vignette with the lamp!
Display Your DIY Cordless Lamp
You can set your new lamp anywhere on your counter, but I made a vignette to display mine!
Start with a cutting board and set your lamp on it!
Choose two other items of varying heights and add them to the board!
I love how the vignette looks tucked into the corner!
In Conclusion
I’m so thrilled with my DIY cordless lamp!
It fits perfectly on the counter and gives a warm cozy glow at night!
I can’t wait to try this lamp in other places in our home as well!

This looks amazing, Donna, and such a good idea too. I’m shocked at how much small lamps cost. It’s totally bananas! This is great for spots that you don’t have convenient plugs too. Honestly, you could use this all over the house. It’s fabulous! Hugs, CoCo
