So, I have to get creative to decorate for Memorial Day and the 4th of July!
I want my table to have a festive touch, but I don’t want to go overboard!
I feel like simple is best for this holiday!
Ready to see what I came up with?
1)shop your house for red, white, and blue items
Look around your house and gather items that are red, white, and blue!
The gold tips on the flags reminded me of my gold star napkin rings, so I grabbed those as well!
I know this doesn’t look like much now, but it’s going to make a festive and fun holiday table!
2)MAKE YOUR CENTERPIECE
I decided to use a white soup tureen as my centerpiece container.
You can use faux or real flowers on your table! Chose a combination of red, white, and blue or you can choose just one color as I did!
Are you ready to hear the simplest tip ever??
Add flags to your centerpiece.
This is such a simple tip but it makes a huge statement!
I purchased the small flags years ago to use at my son’s Eagle Scout Award Ceremonies (yes, all three are Eagle Scouts, sorry I had to brag!)
3) Use cloth napkins instead of a table cloth
This is a great tip because it adds a lot of color to the table without the expense of a table cloth!
I almost purchased cloth napkins that had stars on them., but then I put them back on the shelf! It’s best not to buy items specific to one holiday. Instead, I purchased the above napkins from Home Goods. Since they don’t scream 4th of July, I will be able to use them at other times!!!
4)Add texture with a placemat
To add a bit of texture and interest to the table, I added white paper fiber woven placemats.
I’ve had these placemats for a long time. They were purchased at Home Goods and are very inexpensive! I use them a lot and have them in gray as well!
5)Bring interest by choosing dinner plates with a pattern
If you don’t have patterned plates in red, white, or blue, that’s ok.
This is a great holiday to use paper or plastic plates. You can purchase so many cute themed plates and then you have the bonus of not needing to wash them!!
6)Add a salad plate that coordinates with the dinner plate
I love to layer plates! I think it’s the simplest way to add interest to a tablescape! I’m adding a plain white salad plate!
7)CHOOSE YOUR GLASSES
Since this is a simple tablescape, I chose to go with plain glassware!
8)CHOOSE NAPKINS THAT MATCH
I pulled out some red paper napkins since I already used the cloth napkins on the table, lol!!!
9)make or purchase a festive napkin holder
To keep things simple, I’m using napkin rings I purchased many years ago, to use at Christmas. Thrilled I can repurpose them for this holiday!!
10)ADD EATING UTENSILS
I’m using eating utensils with a gold embellishment to match the stars and the tips of the flags!
11) Add a festive touch to the eating area
It’s fun to add a few decor items in the eating area to match your table!
Here’s another super simple tip that looks amazing! Round up as many vases or bottles as you can and put a small flag in each one!
I bought this cute banner at Walmart for seven dollars! It would have cost me more than seven dollars to buy the paint and make it, so I thought it was a bargain (and a time saver!)
I hope you enjoyed this post and you’re excited for Memorial Day and the 4th of July too!!
