I made some adorable candles to add to my Halloween decor. They are so easy to make and inexpensive that you’ll want to make them for other holidays as well! I wish I could take the credit for coming up with this project, but I got the idea from a fabulous blog called Whiskey and Whit. If you love to do DIY projects Whitney is one to follow!! Let me show you how to make Rae Dunn-inspired pillar candles. It’s so easy, here we go!

Gather
Gather the following materials to make this project:
- pillar candle-I bought mine at Dollar Tree for $1.00 apiece
- Goo Gone cleaner
- ribbon
- razor blade or scrapper
- Elmer’s spray adhesive
- Cricut cutting machine *if you don’t have a Cricut you can use a black Sharpy marker
- free download for font(Skinny)
- black Cricut vinyl
- Cricut transfer tape
Prep
remove sticker
The sticker does not peel off of the candle easily. I used Goo Gone to remove the stuck-on adhesive from the candle. Let it sit on the candle for two minutes.
Then, I scrapped it off with a razor. Be sure to wash the Goo Gone off the candle with soap and water.
Cut ribbon
Wrap the ribbon around the top of the candle and determine the length you’ll need. Cut the ribbon.
Create sticker letters
Decide what words you want to put on the candle. I used “boo to you” and “more candy.” Whiskey and Whit provided a free download for the font that looks like the Rae Dunn lettering called Skinny. Click here to get it.
Cut out letters using a Cricut cutting machine and black vinyl.
Remove excess vinyl.
Apply transfer tape over your black vinyl letters.
how to Make candle
Apply transfer tape to the candle. Rub and remove the tape.
Adhere the ribbon to the top of the candle with spray adhesive.
how to style rae dunn inspired candles
There are so many cute ways you can style these candles! I have examples of three different ways I used them in my house.
Tiered tray
I put together this fabulous tiered tray on my coffee bar. I placed one of the candles on the top tier and put the other one beside the tray.
Shelf
I have a pie shelf in my kitchen and decided to add some festive decor there. So I moved one of the candles to the top shelf!
Counter
I added this fun candy vignette to my kitchen counter! My “more candy” candle fits in perfectly here!
These candles were so easy to make and could be modified for any holiday! What do you think about them? Would you like to make a few Rae Dunn-inspired candles to add to your decor this year? Let me know in the comments below!!
