If you didn’t know this about me already…
… I don’t like scary Halloween decor!
You see, I prefer a playful theme with a cute glowing ghost and stacks of pretty pumpkins!
I also want to ensure our home is a happy stop for every little ghoul and goblin in the neighborhood.
With that in mind, let the decorating begin!
Place Halloween Decor Around Your Front Door
Hang a Wreath on the front door
I made this DIY wreath from Spanish moss we foraged from our yard.
Don’t you think the way the moss “drips” down gives such an eerie vibe?
Drape Spooky Spanish Moss
To keep the creepy vibe going, we added even more moss!
Stack pumpkins
My favorite part of fall is decorating with pumpkins!
Having one here and there looks great, but stacking them is pure perfection!!
Incorporate Jack-o-lanterns
It wouldn’t be a Halloween porch without jack-o-lanterns!
You can use real or faux pumpkins whatever you prefer!
We have had these faux jack-o-lanterns since our boys were small and they have held up so well!
Ours are elevated on planters and surrounded with more Spanish moss!
Set up a Cute Ghost
I made this adorable light-up DIY ghost after seeing a similar one on the Pottery Barn website.
She’s dressed up like a witch and is ready to trick-or-treat, so I gave her a cute pumpkin basket to hold her candy!
Fill in with more pumpkins
Place more pumpkins around your planters to fill in any open space.
Create a Cozy Sitting Area
Bring out a chair and table
We are usually blessed with wonderful weather and comfortable temperatures for Halloween, so we like to sit outside to hand out candy!
This cozy seating area will work perfectly!
Show off festive throw pillows
Add a Halloween-themed throw pillow to celebrate the season!
Drape a creepy cloth
Buy a creepy cloth from Dollar Tree and drape it over your table to add a spooky vibe!
Don’t Forget the candy
Purchase a cute Halloween bucket, pail, or cauldron to hold the candy for trick-or-treaters.
I found this cute bucket a couple of years ago at Home Goods.
Light up Your Halloween Porch
It’s time to light up your porch when the sun goes down!
Here are some easy ways to add an eerie glow to light up the night!
Let your Ghost Glow
This ghost is so cute, but the fact it lights up makes it even better!
Make Jack-o-lanterns Shine
There are so many ways to light up a jack-o-lantern nowadays.
You can use a traditional candle but if you are concerned about fire you can use battery-operated faux candles, puck lights, or fairy lights.
Spotlights
It’s difficult to see the crow on the wreath since our front door is black.
To solve the problem, we added two solar spotlights to shine on the door and light up the wreath.
Now we won’t have to turn on the overhead porch light.
Conclusion
With these Halloween porch decor ideas, you can create a festive atmosphere that will thrill all the little trick-or-treaters who visit your home.
Whether you go all out with scary decor or prefer a more cute and whimsical vibe, as I do, your porch can become a memorable part of a trick-or-treater’s Halloween night.
So grab your decorations, unleash your creativity, and have fun transforming your porch into a scene that everyone will love.
Happy Halloween!

Hi Cindy! Real Spanish moss really is amazing and I adore how it looks hanging from huge oak trees in our area! It’s been fun to craft with this fall!
CoCo says
This porch is totally adorable, Donna. No doubt you’re going to be the hit of the neighborhood! I love how you set up a little candy station to make passing out treats easy and how you gave the ghost it’s own basket too. It’s all so stinking cute. Can’t wait to hear how much the littles love it! Hugs, CoCo

Thanks CoCo! We have not been home the last two years for Halloween, so we are looking forward to handing out candy this year! We love sitting outside! In KY it was usually too cold for that! Happy Halloween!
