Great Ideas to organize the linen closet
Okay, friends are you ready to see my messy closets? This is so embarrassing, but it’s my reality! When we moved into the house, I shoved things into closets to get them out of the way. Somehow, I procrastinated for an entire year before I organized them!
The picture on the left is the closet before I organized it! You can’t even see what’s on some of the shelves. So much clutter was stacked up! There’s no way a guest could find an extra blanket or pillow if they needed it! That’s about to change!
On the right is the after picture! What do you think? So much better, right?? If I, or a guest, need to grab an extra blanket, they can easily find it!! It is such a relief to have this closet organized!! I hope some of my ideas will help you with your linen closet!
Sheets
I don’t use dryer sheets in my dryer, but I do keep them on hand to use differently. Instead, I tuck them between my folded sheets to keep them smelling fresh!
The white storage baskets with bamboo tops were purchased from the At Home Store. I bought them to store my sheets. I wanted to make sure my queen sheets would fit inside. If they fit, I was going to purchase a couple more. Sadly, I never got around to organizing this closet, and the containers sat empty. Thankfully, the sheets did fit inside the container. I wanted to buy two more of them, but now I can’t find the exact match. Oh well, that’s what I get for procrastinating!! If you see these anywhere, let me know!!
extra bedding
Next, I neatly stacked my extra blankets and pillows. Now visitors can easily find whatever they might need! Can you believe it, there’s nothing on the floor!!
Cleaning products
I keep this cleaning container for the upstairs bathrooms! Who wants to lug a bunch of cleaning products up the steps, not me? Now, the boys have easy access to the products to clean their bathrooms. Somehow they still need a reminder to use them though lol!!
Throw blankets
I always like to keep extra throw blankets handy for relaxing on the couch and movie nights in the loft!
Sleeping bags
I prefer to store our sleeping bags in the house, rather than in our camper. When we have a lot of people staying with us, we use them on cots. The ceiling in the closet is high, allowing me to stack two sleeping bags on top of each other!
GREAT IDEAS to ORGANIZe THE cleaning CLOSET
Are you ready to see my messy cleaning closet?? Here we go again…
The before picture of my cleaning closet is on the left. It’s not as bad as the linen closet was, but I had a hard time trying to locate the items I needed. I have several containers that I plan to keep, but I will be purchasing some new ones too!
The after picture is on the right. I’m excited because it looks so much better now! Here are some tips that might help you organize your cleaning closet!
storage cubes and baskets
I found the adorable polka dot cube storage bins at Target. I was so happy because three of them fit perfectly on the top row. Unfortunately, three won’t fit on the other shelves because of the wide brackets that hold the wire shelf. Oh well, that made my decision on where to place them easy! They are storing my back stock of light bulbs and cleaning products.
I used two baskets on the next shelf that I already had and spray-painted them gray to match. One of them holds my microfiber cleaning cloths, and the other is still empty! It’s a great idea to keep part of your space empty. Inevitably, you will find something you need to put there!
Oh yes, I also bought the white baskets at Target. They fit perfectly in the space, and I’m keeping my dusting items in one. The other is still empty! Woo hoo, two empty containers! I think that’s a record!!
plastic drawers
I was using the plastic drawers in my laundry room in Kentucky. They worked so well that I decided to bring them to Florida with us.
tools
I love this handy little toolbox! It was a gift for one of my boys for his high school graduation. He took it to college with him, but now he’s living in my house. So, I confiscated it! It’s so nice to have inside because the rest of our tools are in the garage. Seems like I need the tape measure a lot. It’s a bonus because those large drawers would tip over when I opened them. Now, the weight of the toolbox keeps the drawers from tipping over!!
household cleaners
I keep all of my cleaning products downstairs in this basket! It’s so handy to grab and take from room to room! I love that it has handles!
paint
It was a challenge figuring out how to store my paint! Before I organized the closet, half of the cans were in a cardboard box, and the other half was on the floor. Some of the cans are heavy, so I needed something sturdy that would hold them. I found these cute wooden boxes that were the perfect size. Aren’t they adorable? They have wheels on the bottom, which makes them easy to access. I felt lucky to find them from the At Home store.
vacuum
Now that all of the clutter is off the floor, I have plenty of room for my vacuum!
An organized closet makes me feel so calm and at peace. It does make me feel so much better! I hope you enjoyed this post, and you can use some of these great ideas to organize your linen and cleaning closets!
