Wondering how to incorporate a gingerbread theme into your Christmas decor? Whether you decorate your tree with gingerbread ornaments, build and display houses, or add accents throughout your home, a gingerbread-inspired Christmas is the perfect way to celebrate the season with warmth and cheer.
I created several gingerbread DIY decor items last year for our kitchen and liked them so much, I decided to expand on the theme this year!

Gingerbread Theme Christmas Decor
Here’s a tour of our living room, featuring our gingerbread-themed Christmas tree, the kitchen, and our eat-in area all dressed up for the holidays!
Living room
A New Rug
Christmas came early for me this year and I can’t wait to show you what I got for our living room!
Here’s the before picture…
And this is what it looks like now…
The most warm and cozy rug that’s perfect for winter!
I adore how this rug brightens the space but makes it feel cozy at the same time!
It feels wonderful on my feet and I can’t wait to relax on the floor putting together my Christmas puzzle in a few days!
Now back to our tour!
Showcase a Nativity Set
Let’s not forget the reason for the season!
Here’s my favorite Christmas decoration we own!
When Rich and I married, we started collecting pieces for this nativity set and I cherish it!
Hang a Wreath
I made the DIY ribbon wreath in the spring and decided to layer it with a flocked wreath for winter!
Because it’s neutral, I’ve been able to use it every season!
Display a Village
The adorable felt house and tree came from Target and I made the DIY gingerbread house!
Oh my goodness, I just realized I took this picture with the tags still on the felt house!
That’s how excited I was to display them, lol!!
Can you believe each felt house and tree were only $5 a piece?
On the bookshelves, I displayed a DIY Christmas village I made a few years ago!
Showcase Thrifted Finds
I discovered this cute sleigh in a thrift store for only $1, spray-painted it white, and filled it with gold ornaments!
Incorporate Honeycomb Trees
A vignette for the coffee table uses a basket to hold two honeycomb trees from Target, a DIY gingerbread house, and small bottlebrush trees surrounded by an evergreen garland.
Throw pillows
I’ve had the white pillow covers for years but I got the dark one on clearance at Hobby Lobby for around $4 during fall!
I adore these pillow covers, they remind me of gingerbread icing swirls!
Display Holiday Art
I was happy to find art with neutral gingerbread houses for our frame TV!
Christmas Tree
I’m so excited about our gingerbread-themed Christmas tree!
Here’s a closer look at the ornaments!
DIY gingerbread house made from a Dollar Tree doll house.
Gingerbread garland made from Dollar Tree wooden snowflakes.
These velvet-look ornaments came from Target! I ordered them online early because they sold out in stores the last two years.
Note that if you have a flocked tree it will shed onto the ornaments.
I’ll clean them with a pet roller before I store them.
These gingerbread ornaments came from Hobby Lobby.
Here’s another one shaped like a house and a DIY vintage-inspired ornament I made.
Kitchen
Create an Evergreen Arrangement
I created this evergreen arrangement in a DIY thrifted vase and added a brown velvet bow.
Display a Gingerbread Village
Our gingerbread village is displayed on our pie shelf, alongside our milk glass collection.
Line Up Seasonal Cutting Boards
These adorable tree-shaped cutting boards came from Hobby Lobby.
Use a cutting board as a tray
In the corner, I decorated a cutting board with DIY wood trees and a white ceramic house.
Show Off a Gingerbread Cutting Board
This adorable gingerbread man came from Kohl’s, he was free with my Kohl’s cash!
Display Fruit in a Wood Bowl
An easy way to decorate a kitchen is to add fruit to a pretty bowl!
Get Ready For Santa
If you have Christmas dishes, show them off on your counter!
I love displaying this plate and cup we got when the boys were little!
Eat-in area
Last but not least, is the kitchen eat-in area.
Incorporate a Flocked Christmas Set
Instead of putting up a tree in this area, I displayed our King of Christmas set on the shelf and mirror!
Decorate the Set
I added the brown ribbon and was going to leave the tree and garland bare, but decided to tuck in these cute DIY gingerbread men from last year.
Display an Advent Calendar
The shelf was the perfect place to put our DIY advent calendar!
Table Centerpiece
A small tree tucked into an urn created a simple table centerpiece.
To dress it up, I added tiny gingerbread houses and the sweet deer one of our sons gave me last year.
Conclusion
Adding gingerbread theme Christmas decor is the perfect way to add a touch of sweetness to your holiday celebrations.
Whether you go all out with gingerbread houses, themed ornaments, or simply incorporate a few subtle touches, your home will have a festive atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.
So, grab a cup of cocoa, turn on some holiday tunes, and soak in the sweetness of the season!
