I know, all of our lives are so busy, and it’s easy to neglect our outdoor spaces.
Oftentimes, I tell myself I’ll get to it tomorrow, or I’ll do it when the weather is better!
Somehow that day keeps getting put off and the next thing I know, everything is overgrown.
Well, today it’s time to take back control of the yard!
Bye-bye weeds and hello beautiful home!
strategy to improve your home’s curb appeal
First, we’re going to share all of our great tips to boost curb appeal, and then I’ll show you some before and after pictures of the work we did in our yard!
What are ya waiting for?
Let’s get this lawn party started!
Keep lawn looking good
I know the majority of people mow their grass regularly! However, most people stop there.
Here are a few more tips you can implement to make your yard look fabulous!
- Cut grass regularly- mow your lawn to the height specified for your type of grass. Do not scalp the yard!!
- Edge driveway, sidewalk, and flowerbeds- edging takes a maintained yard and turns it into a manicured lawn!
- Water your yard if needed- when grass gets dry, water as much as your city will allow!
- Keep lawn weed-free- you can do this yourself or hire a professional.
Maintain Trees and shrubs
You should prune your trees and shrubs to promote good plant health!
Trim trees- remove any dead or diseased branches and trim them to your desired shape!
Shape shrubs- shrubs can grow out of control fast! Decide what shape you like and trim accordingly!
Tip for trimming shrubs if you have mulch in your beds
Trimming shrubs can make a massive mess on the ground. If you have mulch in your plant beds, it’s difficult to remove the plant material without raking all the mulch away. Here’s a tip to help:
Lay down plastic around your shrubs. We cut the seams of garbage bags, it’s a perfect size.
After you trim the shrub, simply roll up the cut branches in the plastic. Put the rolled plastic into a garbage bag and shake it until all the plant material falls out. Reuse the plastic sheet on your next shrub!
Refresh landscape beds
The yard is mowed, and the trees and shrubs are trimmed, now let’s turn our attention to the landscaped beds!
Remove all weeds!
Rake existing mulch to refresh it and add new mulch in sparse spots.
Spruce up your front porch
Now your lawn looks amazing, but if you want to improve your home’s curb appeal, you need to spruce up the front porch!

You need to try it! It takes a few more minutes to lay it down but it is worth it because clean-up is a breeze!
