We’re sharing our best tips and ideas to help you create a Thanksgiving dining room that will make everyone feel at home.
Thanksgiving Tablescape Ideas
Add Color with a Tablecloth
When I organized our butler’s pantry, I was reminded I had this beautiful brown tablecloth with leaf stitching.
I knew it would be perfect for Thanksgiving and it inspired the color and theme for the whole room.
This year, I’m using brown, white, tan, and cream colors with lots of leaves!
Decorate the Center of the Table
I layered neutral tan leaf branches with off-white leaves for the centerpiece.
Then, I painted six old pumpkins with Annie Sloan Old Ochre Chalk paint and tucked them between the leaves.
Next, I added a couple of large acorns and grapevine wreath pumpkins here and there.
Add a Seasonal Vignette
We will only have four people for Thanksgiving dinner this year and have room at the ends of our table so I decided to create a seasonal vignette with these pretty pheasants and feathers.
I had my eye on these gorgeous pheasants last year but Hobby Lobby sold out of them.
Imagine my excitement when they had them in stock this year!
As soon as I saw them I put them right in my cart!
You can create a vignette on a console or side table if you don’t have room on your dining table.
Choose a place setting
I mixed our everyday dinner plates with beautiful brown transferware salad plates I found at an antique dealer this summer.
Gold-rimmed glasses and champagne utensils finish the setting.
DIY Charger Plates
What do you think about the leaf and acorn charger plates I made for our table?

I’m thrilled with how they turned out and look forward to using them in my Fall decor for many more years!
Use Inexpensive Napkin Holders
I bought these adorable pumpkin napkin holders from Dollar Tree last year.
I love how you can write on them and use them as place cards too!
Thanksgiving Dining Room Decor Ideas
Now it’s time to make the rest of the dining room look as beautiful as the table!
Layer leaf branches
I placed branches with brown leaves on the mantel and layered them with the same tan branches I used on the dining table.
Display a Turkey
I added a vase with both types of leaves I used on the dining table to the center of the mantel, and set my gold turkey, purchased last year from Hobby Lobby, in front of it.
Incorporate illumination
I always like to add candles someplace in the dining room and this time I chose the mantel.
These battery-operated taper candles are the best, no worries about starting a fire and they have a remote with a timer!
Fill a Cornucopia
I placed our small cornucopia on the bar cart and filled it with a tan leaf branch then tucked in small pumpkins.
Display Seasonal Items in A China Cabinet
Last but not least, I added a few pumpkins to the china cabinet for a finishing touch!
Conclusion
With these Thanksgiving tablescape and dining room decor ideas, you can easily create a space perfect for sharing food, laughter, and gratitude.
As you gather around the table this holiday season, may your decor be as memorable as the company and conversations it inspires.

This is lovely Donna. My neutral loving heart loves all of it. The pheasants and feathers are stunning. I’m glad you found them. They look high end not HLish. We are only 4 this year too and you’ve motivated me to get going on my table. Thanks for the inspiration friend. Happy Thanksgiving. XO- MaryJo

Hey MaryJo, I think the pheasants look so much more expensive than what I paid for them, so glad you agree! Have fun decorating your table! I know it will look fabulous! Happy Thanksgiving to you!
