This often-overlooked area can quickly become a cluttered mess of cleaning supplies, toiletries, and random items.
But with some creativity and strategic planning, you can transform this chaotic spot into a functional and organized space.
Let’s get started!
Tips to Organize Under the Bathroom Sink
We hope these tips inspire you to create a more functional and efficient bathroom space.
Utilize Vertical Space
Bathroom cabinets often have limited space.
By organizing items vertically, you use most of the available area, ensuring no space is wasted.
Stackable acrylic drawers
Adding stackable, acrylic drawers can provide additional layers without expanding the cabinet’s footprint.
I use them to store smaller items like hair ties, barrettes, extra razors, cotton pads, flossers, Waterpik accessories, eyeglass cleaning cloths, disposable cups, facial wipes, and main/pedicure supplies.
Important note- most acrylic drawers are not as deep as the cabinet and will leave open space behind them.
I use this space to store my backstock of feminine hygiene items, cotton swabs, etc. that occasionally will be replenished.
If you prefer a storage item the same depth as the cabinet, search for deeper acrylic drawers or check out the next item!
Stackable Wire Mesh Drawer Organizer
This organizer improves accessibility and prevents items from getting lost or buried at the back of shelves or cabinets.
The drawers pull out so you can easily see everything stored inside it.
Incorporate Bins and Baskets
Incorporating bins and baskets into bathroom cabinet organization can greatly enhance the functionality and aesthetics of your space.
I am using three types of plastic bins to contain my beauty products.
Here are some tips to help you determine what’s best for your cabinet:
- Measure the dimensions of your cabinet to determine the size and number of bins and baskets you can accommodate.
- Make a list of all the items you need to store, such as toiletries, cleaning supplies, towels, etc.
- Select materials that suit your style and bathroom environment. Options include plastic, wicker, metal, or fabric.
- Choose bins and baskets that fit well within your cabinet and match the size of the items you’re storing.
- Organize items into categories like hair care, skin care, first aid, cleaning supplies, etc.
- If you can’t see inside your bins and baskets label them so everyone knows where to put items.
Maximize Cabinet Doors
Maximizing storage on your bathroom cabinet door can be a great way to organize and declutter your space.
I have an over-the-door organizer to store my blowdryer and brushes.
Here are a few more ideas you can try:
- Adhesive Hooks and Racks: Attach adhesive hooks or small racks to the inside of the door for hanging items like hair tools, brushes, or washcloths.
- Magnetic Strips: Install a magnetic strip to hold metal tools like tweezers, scissors, or nail clippers.
- Small Baskets or Bins: Mount small baskets or bins to the door to hold items like lotions, creams, or small bottles.
- Towel Bars or Rods: Attach a small towel bar or rod to the door to hang hand towels or washcloths.
- Clear Pocket Organizers: Use clear pocket organizers to store smaller items like makeup, toothbrushes, or toiletries. This keeps everything visible and easy to access.
- Spice Racks: Repurpose spice racks or small shelving units to store bottles and jars of bathroom products.
- Caddy or Tray Systems: Install caddy or tray systems for cabinet doors to keep items organized and accessible.
- Wire Shelves: Use wire shelves that can be screwed into the door to create extra storage space.
Important note- Before purchasing new organizing products consider the weight and size of the items you’ll be storing to ensure the door can support them without becoming difficult to open or close.
Use Drawer Organizers
Investing in bathroom drawer organizers can greatly enhance the functionality and appearance of your bathroom, making daily tasks more efficient and enjoyable.
I highly recommend using bathroom drawer organizers like these.
Here are the key advantages:
- Drawer organizers help categorize and separate different items, such as cosmetics, toiletries, and grooming tools, keeping everything in its place.
- With items neatly arranged and compartmentalized, you can quickly find what you need without rummaging through cluttered drawers.
- By providing designated spots for each item, organizers prevent drawers from becoming dumping grounds for miscellaneous items, keeping your bathroom tidy.
- A well-organized drawer means less time spent searching for items, streamlining your daily routine.
I organized my makeup, skin care, and daily toiletry items with trays that have adjustable dividers.
If you want to change the size of each bin to fit your products perfectly this is your answer!
Consider Lazy Susans
I am not currently using a lazy Susan in my bathroom but I wanted to mention it because it’s a great option.
- A lazy Susan rotates, allowing you to easily access items stored at the back of the cabinet without moving other items out of the way.
- Ideal for bottles, jars, and other small containers from skincare products and hair accessories to cleaning supplies, making it a versatile storage solution.
- The rotating feature prevents items from being lost or forgotten.

I love the way you have organized your bathroom Donna. I am a fan of the acrylic drawers, I have a few for make-up and such. I do need to figure out under our bathroom sink again since we now have a rather large hole in the bottom of our vanity. You always amaze me with how organized you are. You are an inspiration to me because this gal is less than all together when it comes to organization, I do not think I received that gene from my mother. The woman who labels her hangers, and such… yep, maybe that has a bit to do with my lack of organization! 😉
Donna Allen says
Hey Cara! Sounds like your mom enjoys organizing stuff as much as I do! I don’t think any of my kids got the organizing “gene” either! Maybe it skips a generation, lol!! I hope you can get your bathroom back together soon! Take care and thanks!
LINDA PINKERTON says
I am greatly interested in the round, spinning shelves for bathroom ,like I have in kitchen. You know how dark and awkward the bathroom, under sink space is — and the plumbing …Any suggestions for a bathroom with 2 sinks and 2 cabinets? Linda
Donna Allen says
Hi Linda! I use a lazy Susan under my kitchen sink and it works wonderfully and would be great under a bathroom sink as well. I also like the under sink organizers you can buy that have a skinny shelf on the top to accommodate the plumbing in most bathroom cabinets. Stackable acrylic storage drawers that are not vey deep can fit in front of the plumbing as well. Hope that helps!
