I’m a little later than usual decorating outdoors because I was waiting for the 90-degree temps to drop!
I finally got my wish, but I’m still pretending it’s not in the 80s outside, and I’m not wearing shorts and a tank top!!
If I make it look like Fall, maybe the weather will cooperate, LOL!!
Here are our tips to help you create a porch you and your neighbors will enjoy looking at the entire season!!
Steps to Decorate a Fall Porch
Decide on a color scheme
Earlier this year, we bought a new rug for our front porch.
It is orange, white, and teal, and I thought it would be perfect to use from Spring through Fall!
It’s our inspiration, and I felt it would look fabulous surrounded by orange and white pumpkins!
So, we went on a quest searching for white and orange mums and pumpkins!
We thought we were successful, but sometimes the blooms are a different color than expected!
The tag said they were orange.
We believed it because the buds looked orange.
When they first opened, they looked orange, but when they fully opened, they looked yellow!
So much for that great idea!
We had to pivot and welcome yellow into our color scheme!
Add a wreath
The easiest way to add Fall decor to your porch is to dress up the front door with a wreath!
I made this Fall basket wreath with items I already had at home, and it only took five minutes!
I love how the two pumpkins peek out from the gorgeous leaves!
Layer doormats
Next, you’ll want to add a doormat or rug!
We bought the pumpkin doormat at Hobby Lobby and already had the black one underneath it.
You can use one doormat, but I highly recommend layering two!
I love how our black mat outlines the pumpkin mat!
Incorporate Flowers
It’s time to add some flowers, and mums scream Fall to me!
We purchased the large mums on either side of our door from Costco.
Do you agree they look more yellow than orange?
Oh well, they are still magnificent!
This small orange mum and the white ones by the front door came from Walmart.
I planted these cacti in the spring and managed to keep them alive!
So, I will incorporate them into the fall decor!
Arrange Pumpkins
Nothing says Fall more than pumpkins!
Stack them and arrange them on your porch!
Add A Comfy Touch To Your Outdoor Seating
Be sure to add comfortable pillows or throw blankets to your outdoor furniture.
With these simple steps, you can easily create a comfortable space to enjoy the outdoors alone or with your neighbors!

Donna love the porch! I know what you mean about the color scheme and I hate when flowers don’t cooperate. lol. But you guys did a great job integrating all the colors and bringing it together. Love the mums and pumpkins. I still haven’t finished my decor outside. I’m way behind. But like you I was waiting for the heat to subside. But it’s time. Enjoy all your fall feels! XO- MaryJo
